Problem With 2 Gen 3 Winches

When I spin the spool and push down on the thumb bar sometimes it will pop back up, and when it doesn't pop back up, the spool sounds smooth until I hold the spool with the handle facing up and the palm plate down then it makes a really loud grinding sound.

 

But when I push the thumb bar down and spin the spool with my finger, it doesn't make the noise.

This happens with both of them btw, and they where both jus replaced with Orange Seal Boca's
