frogflogger Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Does anyone have information or better yet - experience with this lake? I know it was considered almost dead but have heard it may be fishable. thanks Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted August 22, 2013 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted August 22, 2013 You would probably have more luck and fun fishing a large mud puddle. Quote
rboat Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I just read an article in a north Orlando monthly fishing flyer that stated 2 guys caught several nice bass up to 6 lbs in lake Apopka this past summer. I had heard it was still a dead body of water. Maybe it is starting to come back to life? It sure was a shame. That lake was listed as the best big bass lake in the state in 1970. Then the surrounding farms and chemical plants dumped their waist and runoff and literally killed everything in and around the shore of a large beautiful Florida lake. The state has bought most of the land around it and spent big bucks trying to clean it up. They have done dredging, added more reeds around the shore to help filter, added runoff evaporation ponds, etc. A Florida dept. of natural resources guy had stated that time would be the only real way it could return to normal. He also stated that it may not be in our lifetime. Fishindaddy, have you been there recently and caught anything? just curious. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted October 20, 2013 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted October 20, 2013 I have actually never fished it. I know some people who used to live around it. With so many other great choices around it, I may never fish it. John's Lake just to the south is one of the best big fish lakes in the state. Quote
gar-tracker Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 It was famous for dieing, let them know we may have some problems with all this run off. I heard it came back years ago. Quote
JellyMan Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 They are in there, but I think you are better off going somewhere else. There is so much water to fish in Orlando that it's ridiculous. Quote
