CrossK Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I've decided that I'm going to restore one of my John Boats, it's got a small raised platform for standing at the end already and 3 benches. I was thinking of just leveling the platform with the upper edge of the boat and expanding it back about a foot. I'd then put a "lean-to" seat in the middle. Then I'd get rid of the main bench that runs the width of the boat and replace it with 2 regular leather seats. Any other ideas while I'm at it? Haha suggestions or tips on fixing it up would be greatly. Sorry no pictures yet, I'm on my phone and it says the file is too big, but just for a perspective it's about 6 ft wide and 15 ft long. Thanks! Quote
martintheduck Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Any empty space you have that will not be accessible for storage, fill with spray-on foam to help buoyancy. Consider adding a bilge pump in the rear. Is it a "console john boat" or a legitimate tiller john? Quote
