my Gen 3 Revo SX is without a doubt my farthest caster. But I would take my MGX and Gen 2 Premier over it in a heartbeat. But I feel the SX outcasts them due to line, rod, and its mainly used for 5 inch swimbaits and other heavy baits to where im going for distance.

Exactly. If you spooled 3 reels with same line and mounted them one at a time the exact same rod and threw the same bait, the differences could be attributed to the reels but they would likely be less than comparing whole setups.

If I'm wanting to make long casts I'm going to do it with a reel that has some line capacity.  Casting 50-75 yds is not out of the question, then getting a strike at that distance with a fish that's capable of running 50 yds or more I want line.  I do believe the less line on the spool renders the drag less effective than if the spool was fuller.

Not only is the hook set more difficult at distance, but the chances of losing the fish is greatly increased.  I cast for distance only when I really have to.

The rod helps for sure, but my E7 can come really close to the bottom of the spool with a sammy 115 on a 7' H' falcon bucoo and 12lb hybrid. The rod loads quite a bit; and its after a fresh bearing flush and the oil gets situated. I own a pond that I've fished with a bunch of friends all my life, and no reels come close to casting accross it. This one can when everythjng else is conducive.

A Sammy 115 is a really good lure to use when you're looking to see how far you can cast.

The Calcutta DC and the Calais DC are excellent for extremely long casts without drama. The Core 50Mg7 is also very good but the Curado E7 series is the value long distance champ for me. The Daiwa's: Zillion, Steez, PX Type R, etc. are some of my favorites, but less so for maximum distance casts. The MGX is finicky at the edge, even more so than the Steez IMO. All of my recommendations are for 1/4-3/8 ounce baits with average wind to deal with, etc. If you're casting a 1/2-3/4 ounce bait without much wind, any of today's reels with a decent bearing flush/oiling or a Boca upgrade can really sling these heavier baits. I love the mix of different reels, their look, feel, etc. but if I was considering strictly performance and value I'd probably sell everything else and end up with 3 Core's and the balance in E7 Curado's Boca bearings. And I'd keep one Pixy, because everybody needs at least one, LOL.

Yes, otherwise the 3/4 oz megabass x-pod is capable of some incredibly far casts. Of all baits under an ounce this one really flies for me better than anything else I have tried.
