I never really got on board with a designated swim jig. In the past I've always used whatever jig I had on if I wanted to swim it.

Well, i bought a char/white swim jig with a white soft swim bait trailer. Well I killed them with it. Now after work Im going to dicks to stock up on a few more.

What are your favorites? Colors? Trailer?

How do you guys like to fish them? yo yo? steady retreive? Do you like to fish cover with them?

Just interested with what works with you fellas

Right now it's a NorthStar Original Swim Jig (bluegill) with a Rage Tail Shellcracker or Menace trailer.

I just received a new batch of Elite swim jigs from Siebert Outdoors. Looking forward to getting out with

them, too!

The retrieve is steady for me. The key variables are structure, cover and depth. I have NOT found "matching

the hatch" to be of any importance. The main forrage at most of the places I fish is threadfin shad (yellowtail).

However, I have better luck on almost everything other than silver...go figure?

I've make my own but I've been doing it a long time and while swimming a jig isn't new to me, having a designated swim jig I thought was nonsence but I finally broke down and got a mold and I'm glad I did!!!  What I didn't realize was how flipping jigs and football jigs don't run level, the back end sits low and it causes it to hang up but the swim jig rides hook up and it comes through cover really well and hook ups are almost 100% and it has been my number 1 fish catcher this year!!! It has beat my favorite, spinnerbaits by 5 to 1 now and the bite on them is still strong. My favorite is a color I call bluegill, if you look at Fishingskirts * it is number #173, called both molting craw or bluegill and that skirt with a matching head color has been smoking them in every water I used them in!!! Favorite trailers are River Rock Baits RR Striker and swim grub, the Striker looks and swims very much like the Keitech easy shiner.

Before you buy anything at Dicks, look at the selections from Siebert Outdoors and North Star.  I have a couple of both companies swim jigs and they're much better than store bought jigs. Better skirts, better hooks, better fishing all around.  Sieberts 3/8 oz in Blue Gill is one of my go to baits.  I absolutely love it.

I use primarily blue gill colors or hard candy. I like to use a rage craw or a paddle tail swimbait for my trailers.  RW mentioned to me the other day to try out the Rage tail Menace so as soon as I can get to a store that carries them I will give that a whirl.

I like the Outkast Pro Swim Jigs (bold gill color is my favorite) with RI Skinny Dippers or Little Dippers as a trailer (variety of colors based on clarity). If I'm fishing with someone throwing a spinnerbait, I'll almost always beat them on quantity and always beat them on size. Very few hang-ups with the jigs.

I use Scrounger Jigs with the skirt and add a Zoom Super Salty Fluke to it as a trailer.  Bass love it.  So do stripers.

I like Revenge's bluegill  pattern.  Bluegill are the main forage in my lakes so I tend to match the hatch.  Will probably pick up a couple white/silver ones to see what I can do with 'em.

I fish Brovarney's swim jigs in blue gill, white/gold, white/blue/silver and black/blue. the trailers i use are rage craws, subwoofers, paca chunks, 5in single tail grubs. i'm almost always throwing them at some sort of cover and running into it and killing it or fishing them through lily pads. i rarely throw them in open water unless there's a special dock /w grass.
