I've always liked these rods, but never bought one and got a *** instead. Alright so i was wondering due to all i hear about these Veritas rods breaking. What is your experience with them and should this turn me away from getting one (7'3" mh casting.) This may sound pathetic but since im a "teenager" money is a little tight and this is 20 bucks cheaper than the ***. I have a 7'1" ***, but it is the same price at 100. So i was also wondering is the sensitivity close to the ***/better or worse, or do you think I should just spend the measly extra 20 bucks and get another ***?

Thanks

When they first came out, I was one of the first to jump on them. I had 5 at one time. I never found a single rod, bought online and at BP, that didn't have some flaw. They were nice and light weight, but I hated not having something that I paid my hard earned money for, that wasn't perfect

The main problems are in the epoxy around the guides and the guide inserts coming out. I could pick up any one at BP and find major damage. I never had the rod break on me, but did have several inserts fall out on a normal cast. I have lower and higher end rods and none give me these problems. Come to think of it, I've never had that kind of issues in all my years of fishing.

I can't comment on the *** rods other than from feeling them in the store, but so far, I haven't seen any negative reviews at all. They have been out for a year now and no major issues. I'd say save the 20 bucks and get another. My 7'3 MH Veritas felt like a broom stick compared to say my 7' MH Mojo.

One other rod to give a hard hard look at is the Clarus from Shimano. I bought one for 80 bucks at BP and love it. Mine is a 6'8 MXF and its perfect for topwater. It has every feature as the Veritas, but its black. More comfortable trigger and better locking system. Life time over the county warranty too. Not to mention, its flawless in regards to guides, inserts and epoxy.

I have three been using one for a few years since they came out but I'm 100% opposite of rock chalk all mine are flawless well were iv beat them good but the guides are all straight and glued in good. I've only had one issue and that was a tip guide insert falling out and setting the hook with braid and it mushed over pretty good.

I've been very very abusive to my rods never had a veritas break. All mine were purchased at gander mountain or dsg.

I have both, I would pick the *** 100% of the time. Compared to the ***, the Veritas is like fishing with a broomstick. I also have a Denali Jadewood, and I would choose that over the Veritas as well. I find the Veritas to be far less sensitive than both of these rods, and the rating is far stiffer than advertised, whereas the rating  on the *** and Denali is right on.

It depends The veritas is a pretty stout MH I'm my opinion and its light. Depends what your fishing and how u fish If ur looking on the 100 dollar range check out the st croix mojo bass. When I was in high school I fished exclusively berkley lightening rods for money reason they are in my opinion best bang for your buck I mean there 30 bucks at Walmart and Walmart has a very loose exchange policy if you break it take it back. I have caught as many fish on my Berkeley lightening rod as I have my Gloomis GLX . Sure a 500 dollar rod is more sensitive but if money is tight You can buy 12 lightening rods for the same price and exchange them every couple of months

I really enjoy my Veritas more sensitive and comfortable to me then my St Croix Premiers, however quality control is an issue.  I sent a rod back due to cracked epoxy around the guides but the second one has been perfect.  In my opinion they feel like a more expensive rod, light & sensitive but I wonder if there are better in its price range.  I have heard good things about Shimano rods, I want to give one of these a try as well.

I own the exact one you are planning to buy.  It is my multi-purpose rod and does well when I need it in a pinch.  Sensitive enough to fish bottom contact and stout enough to be a frogging rod.  Like Rockchalk said, you really need to do your due diligence before you buy it.  Double and triple check it!  I've not had an issue with it at all...no breakage or no guide issues.

I'm one of the few that actually had a 7'3 MHF versions of both the Veritas and the Omens at the same time. So I got to do a better comparison. Without reel the veritas felt a tad lighter but no scales so I can't be sure on that. With the same reel, a few different reels too, the *** blows the Vertias in balance. I even gave it to a few of my buddies that don't fish and ask them witch setup is lighter. All of them easily picked the *** setup due to the balance so it easily felt like its lighter. Fit and finish easily goes to the ***. The opoxy on the Veritas guides seems to be put on my elementary kids looking at the craftsmanship. Sensitivity, well that's a hard one and my mind said the *** but overall feel for sure ***. Never had my three veritas break on me though. I sold all my veritas and now got Omens.

I've tried about 5 different rods in the ball park of $100 and to be honest I wouldn't pick anyone over the Omens. BTW the St. croix Mojo felt even heavier than the Veritas so I wouldn't recommend that. I fished it for a few days from a buddy and hated it.

I have never tried *** before so I cannot comment on that. I do have two 7' MHF Veritas rods though and I do love them. As others have said, they are very rigid. I only use these for certain techniques that that would be beneficial for, mostly flipping/pitching or fishing some kind jig or large soft plastic on the bottom. With how rigid they are, I don't use them with moving baits or baits that are likely to get hit hard while the line is taut.

I was going to buy a mojo, but i hate the feeling in your hands, especially weight

Would like to add that the 7'0 Vertias balance and felt a lot better than the 7'3 Vertias. Where the *** it seems like there's less of a difference between the 7 and 7'3. The Veritas is still a pretty good rod though.

with the MOJO try going to there 7' MF plastics rod. MOJO's seem to be stouter than there other M or MH counter parts. i agree my 7'6" pitchin mojobass is heavier than my 7'6" veritas

but my 7' plastics mojo bass has more backbone than alot of my 7' MH.

but i do love all my veritas.

My veritas is my go to rod, I have a premier and an avid but I always find myself reaching for the veritas

I have 5 Veritas rods (3 spinning and 2 casting). Never had any problems at all and love them. It is all in the eye of the beholder.

I was worried about getting a Veritas because of the breaking as well, but I thought I would give it a shot because of the  3 year warrenty. I love it.  As others have said, make sure everything is straight and looking good when your buying it, if you choose the Veritas.  Also, as others have said, its much stiffer than advertised, by I really like the stiffness of the 7' MH for Jigs. I have a Revo S, and it feels really good. I hope we are helping you make a decision

Fully agree with the broomstick sentiment.

I picked one up a few months back for $69 going on all the great things I've read about them here and figuring since so many guys here use them they were probably a safe bet. don't get me wrong they are a great rod I'm just not sure I agree with all feels everyone has about them having great sensitivity. I also have a 7'M Vendetta that I pickup over the Veritas, along with my other rods and my Dobyns Savvy, which for $50 more Blows the Veritas out of the water.

Good luck.
