Phoenix Guy Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Anyone out there want to weigh in on this?? Just curious if it is worth the money. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted August 20, 2013 Super User Posted August 20, 2013 I don't have one. Guys who have used them say they seem to work. I've heard their customer service is very good. Personally, if I was looking to spend money I'd do it on a shallow water anchor and upgraded electronics before I'd buy a Hydrowave. 1 Quote
jeb2 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I've had mine for well over a year now. I fish mostly Beaver and Table Rock and I'm not a believer. Tried it all different conditions on all different settings and can only give it one time where it might have helped. But I can give it several times when it seemed to kill the bite off. I still turn it on every now and then, but pretty rare these days. Customer service is great, though. Quote
TrapperJ Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 This is something i was thinking about putting on my boat as well. The 3 co-angler events i fished this year all 3 boats had them and all 3 guys said they loved theirs. The reviews i find seem to be mixed. So im still not 100% sure i want to pull the trigger on one. I'd love to put a shallow water anchor on my boat 12' Talon but thats 2k and i already have a nice FIsh Finder. From what i have gathered most have said they look at it as another tool to help slightly increase your odds. So yes please more Hydrowave owners and users please weigh in on the subject. Quote
JDFishing Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 I don't think there's any doubt they work. They're not fool proof but with a little understanding, they'll earn every dollar and then some. Bass are extremely competitive, so much that they aren't programmed to just sit back and listen to others feed. They get in while the getting is good. In fact, for you hunters out there, there's not many predators out there that you can't call in. Quote
martintheduck Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Fished one on a buddies boat a bunch of times. Like anyone else, can't 100% say "oh I caught those fish because of the HW..." Will say, there have beens times where it was off, no bite, then cut it on a quick 30 second burst and BAM... get bites. It's on my list of wants....If I had $350 to toss around I'd buy one. Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 25, 2013 Super User Posted August 25, 2013 I still have the original BSX Fish Activator and I do not believe it has any impact on calling bass or other fish to your boat. The Hydrowave may be a different type of unit with better acoustics. I have not studied the unit but I thought it throws out an electronic wave, too. Please correct me if I am wrong. I have the BSX unit on the boat when fishing and many times I forget to turn it on as I have not seen any specific increase in strikes. Just my two cents. However, if you want to give yourself more confidence please purchase and install a unit and let us know if it actually works. You can also purchase a Hydrowave on eBay for less than the MSRP. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted August 25, 2013 Super User Posted August 25, 2013 If anyone has a Hydrowave they don't like, I'll swap a late 80's era Color-C-Lector/PH meter even up. Quote
