Super User K_Mac Posted August 24, 2013 Super User Posted August 24, 2013 LMG When you returned to this board I was, and am, glad to see you back, I hoped that after a little time away you could settle back in as the leading proponent of Shimano reels. I still have that hope. You are a passionate guy, with a shorter fuse than is good for you. So am I. I have just had more years to have some of the sharper edges knocked off. I have learned that life is too short to worry about the small stuff, and it is almost all small stuff. Relax and enjoy the ride my friend.

That just leads to extreme subjectivity. Objective honest comparisons with informative observations is helpful to those on the forum spending their hard earned money. Saying I bought this reel over that reel without explanation does not tell a user anything other than the history of someones purchases. Which to most is unhelpful. 1

We all have opinions, and regardless what some think,,,,,,on any open forum they should have there opinion, we should respect that, and there will always be those that think differently!!!! It is good to have some that make comments with more than a BRIEF,,, time to gain there experience, I agree with K_Mac,,,, after some time under your belt you will to!!
diavolos Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Stick to the E, it has an aluminum frame. The Ci4 has a "plastic" frame, and will not hold up to what a 200E can. If you are going to be doing some light line finesse fishing, then by all means if you want to spend the $$. I have heard and seen too many issues due to the construction, and for another $70, nah. What the hell??? I own a jdm metanium xg and its made out of ci4+ and its very durable, you get what you pay for in almost anything you buy, the svs braking system is awesome, the chronarch also has micro gearing (i think) wich makes the 7.6 ratio have alot more torque than previous models (probably the torque of a 6. something. ci4+ is a carbon infused plastic but is so durable, anyway even if it was a bit less durable, as long as you dont run over it with a car i dont think you will say its less durable at all. The new chronarch is an awesome us reel but since I invested 450$ on the jdm core(metanium), i honestly havent fished a better reel in all my life. I am sure that until they release a new version of the us core, the chronarch might own the spotlight until then even if there is less bearings inside.

I have learned that life is too short to worry about the small stuff, and it is almost all small stuff. Relax and enjoy the ride my friend. I don't want to be a proponent for anything. Its just for my 20 years of hardcore fishing, I know what I see, and I see what I know. I have seen things come and go, and notice the changes that companies are making. I will give credit where I believe credit is due, much as I really like the Lews Super Duty but not crazy about their other models. What I am saying is that what Shimano is doing is, shall I say, a different approach to up their marketing. Do I think a reel frame made of anything but metal is a good idea, no. Will it work for certain types of fishermen, yes. Lets just say the idea is there, but being able to pull a 10# Bass out of a the mat with heavy line, its just not gonna hold up very long. If I were gonna opt for the ultimate finesse reel, I would gladly mount that bad boy on a nice rod, but that type of fishing is not in the dictionary of S FL Bassin'. So, for someone looking for a good all around reel, this might not be the ticket. I would rate this reel as a technique specific style, spen d the money if you have nothing better to do with it reel. Does that help at all?
