I have to agree with Bob Stoops when it comes to the SEC. Yes, they have consistantly had the top team for several years, and they have 3 or 4 that are very good every year, but what has the rest of the league done? I hate to be the bearer of bad news to SEC fans, but Alabama's dominance over the past few years hasn't made Vanderbilt a better team. I don't recall any Oregon St fans shouting "PAC10" back when USC was at the top of their game. Why? Because they knew that the Beavers were a lousy team. I seriously doubt that many Texas fans were rooting for the Sooners in all their NCG appearances. Why? Because they are loyal to their team. Hey, why don't y'all change your chant from "SEC" to "FBS"? Then, no matter what happens, you can still bask in the glory of another team's success.

I'm not an SEC fan, but any fool can see that they're the best confrence in college football right now.  Unless you've got some kind of wierd agenda, you judge a confrence based on their top-tier teams.  All confrences (including the SEC) have celler dwellers.  But, not all confrences have a top-tier that rivals the SEC.  In fact, the results of the past several seasons show that no other confrence has a top-tier that rivals the SEC.  They are the best right now.

It's funny that you say that because I can remember a few years back when people were referring to the PAC 10 as the PAC 1 (USC) and the BIG 12 as the BIG 2 (OU & UT).

PAC1- Yeah, that's because there was only one great team in the entire confrence.  The SEC always has a few National Championship contenders in it, with more than one team making it to a BCS bowl.  Again, I'm not an SEC fan, but there's nothing wrong with recognizing good football when we see it.  And, the SEC has been showing us good football, even dominant football, for the past several years.

I remember when the big 10 was the big 10

I'm from Illinois, where we may as well not have a football team.

When I opened this thread what I was thinking was UH-OH, Tommy's roux is about to burn.

I remember when the top three teams were Colorado, Nebraska and Oklahoma!

For years (decades) Nebraska and Oklahoma were the real deal. Game Of The

Century?

Right now, whether you like it or not, the SEC rules. I hope my Tigers are respectable

this year, but I'm predicting  a Three-Peat for the Tide. Haters call hin Satan, I think the

man is something special. Bear who?

I'm a HUGE OU fan! However, the SEC has been the dominant league for the last decade or so, I can admit that.

That being said, the SEC, SEC, SEC chant that the fans do, is the most ****** nozzle thing that I can possibly think of. I wouldn't cheer for UT or OSU unless they were playing the Taliban. Why? Because that takes recruits away from OU when another team in the region is successful, and I don't want that. However, most SEC fans aren't that bright. Go ahead LSU, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida fans etc....keep chanting SEC, SEC, SEC, and keep getting your a**es handed to you by Alabama year after year. Nice third grade way of thinking.

big Ohio State fan, have been since I was a kid...some 40 years ago. I have no problem admitting that currently the SEC is the dominant conference.

I don't buy the speed thing though. I think the real difference between Bama, LSU, et al vs. the other schools is the athletes on the O-line and D-line.

Ohio state competed with LSU in 07 for about a quarter and a half, then slowly but surely LSU took control of the line of scrimmage and just choked the life out of the buckeyes the rest of the way.

Notre Dame just got dominated on the lines this past year. People can talk about Eddie Lacy, AJ McCarron? , etc, but the O-line and D-Line were just dominant.

I think if Urban Meyer can continue to recruit on the lines the next couple years, Ohio State might be able to climb back into that SEC type team with freakish athletes everywhere, both lines, skill positions, but I do not see it that way this year.

The difference between the SEC and everyone else is Defense!

The PAC 12, BIG 12, BIG 10, & others play high power Offense that is geared to win by simply out scoring the other team.

The SEC play high powered, high speed Defense that shuts down the other teams Offense.

jbsoonerfan, since Saban's return to the SEC in 2007 he has won 39 of 48 against league opponants. 4 of those 9 losses can in his first year & 3 were to the same coach...Les Miles!

Miles is 3-3 against Saban

I agree with your point, but it also makes my point. Look at Alabama....or LSU...two of the best, if not the two best teams of the past few years...they shut you down with their athletes...especially on the D-line, then wear you down with the running game...again behind some of the best O-lines in the country.

Obviously, they have great athletes all over the field, but many teams have outstanding backs, receivers, QB's, but can not match many of the SEC teams on the lines.

Ran his mouth more than his legs during the offseason, simple as that. Ain't no one afraid of him like he thinks they are.

For the last several years, the SEC has represented ~half of the top 10 from start to finish.  SEC consistently stomps the elite teams from other conferences.  Yes, there are SEC losses too, but not nearly as often as SEC victories.

That is exactly why everyone hates the sec. You somehow think that other teams winning a national championship is somehow a win for you. Lsu lost their bowl game. Sec fans also only recognize the last 10 years of national championships.  The records go further back than that.

It is a win for all SEC teams, we get a collective share of the profits in bowl games.

Notice you didn't include S. Carolina, Ask Saban what happened the past couple time they played each other.

Sorry, I'm an OU fan. If they win great, if they don't, no big deal. It really doesn't affect my life either way. I bet you guys have a heck of a time figuring out what to do when two SEC teams are playing each other.

I read my post again, you SEC fans act like a bunch of third graders because you don't even realize how big of D-Bags most of the rest of the country think you guys are.

I don't know if your reading comprehension is lacking or what. I did say that the SEC has dominated for the past 10-12 years. I have no problem admitting that. I just don't know why you would root for a conference when those teams are potentially taking recruits from your team.

But, like I said. SEC fans don't really seem like the brightest group of people around.

Sounds like your reading comprehension is lacking.  The SEC gets a collective share of the profits in bowl games.  Many millions of dollars are shared amongst SEC teams when they go bowling, and many more millions are shared when they win. That reason alone is enough to cheer for your fellow conference teams.
