Super User Long Mike Posted August 16, 2013 Super User Posted August 16, 2013 I was at the post office today and had to go to the counter. While I was standing there I was able to watch the USPS at its very best. Through an open door I watched a gal take packages out of one cart, scan them, and then transfer them to another cart. By "transfer them" I mean that she tossed the packages to the other cart, which was about ten feet away. I watched her miss the other cart twice. I'm sure the same thing probably happens with the other major carriers, but at least they keep it out of the public view. Quote

aquaholic Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 i was shipping my laptop back to the manufacturer with fedex to have an issue with it fixed. I told the woman what it was and everything, she then asked if it would survive a fall from around 6ft. I said maybe that i wasnt sure, the package hp had sent me was pretty sturdy, she then proceeds to lift it up and drop it onto the table.from about 3 ft up. Ive never shipped anything through fedex again. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted August 16, 2013 Super User Posted August 16, 2013 I worked for FedEx in college..............yeah if any of you had stuff broken that came threw the Hartford, CT hub back in 2005 I apologize lol. If you guys seen what happens when loading and unloading the semi trucks that transport the stuff to the hubs you would be shocked. Loading was one thing but the unload complete chaos boxes kicked tossed trampled all over the place. Quote

Super User Sam Posted August 16, 2013 Super User Posted August 16, 2013 Mike, the postal employees only throw packages 10-feet or more if they are marked "fragile." Otherwise, they just lose them. 2 Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted August 16, 2013 Super User Posted August 16, 2013 It's called laziness coupled with carelessness. Unfortunately its running rampant in todays society. It's everywhere, not just the delivery services. Heck, I bought a new trash can about a month ago and in 2 weeks, the trash men had both wheels busted off of it. Go to Taco Bell and odds are your stuffed burrito is falling apart. Laziness and carelessness, no matter where it occurs, is completely uncalled for. Quote

Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted August 16, 2013 Super User Posted August 16, 2013 Ever the opportunist. How many class action lawsuits have you tried to get in on? None as of yet. Aint enough money to he made off of them. I did get a check in the mail for two dollars and 60 some odd cents, 8 years ago. For one that was filed with me listed in it. I had never even heard about the lawsuit. I know I never signed up or filled out paperwork to participate. I think it had something to do with a cell phone provider Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 16, 2013 Super User Posted August 16, 2013 I've only had one issue with fishing gear shipped, and I ship and received a lot. That was a poorly packed reel and UPS was the culprit. Only issue I had with USPS was trying to express a reel to Roadwarrior. That cost me over $50, and took two months to get it to him. Otherwise, they've never lost, broken, or misdelivered anything. Quote
38 Super Fan Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I hate the USPS, don't get me started. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted August 17, 2013 Super User Posted August 17, 2013 This has only happened to me one time, but it's really surprising: Several months ago I ordered some Moaner hooks which were mailed USPS. Total value was less than $50 as I recall. The packaging was a standard padded envelope, sealed and taped. The package arrived EMPTY and obviously opened with a knife! Quote
