Bps Carbonlite Rods - Need Reviews

I would like to hear your thoughts on this rod series from those that own them.  I'm looking specifically at the 7'6" Heavy XF model for fishing larger swimbaits in deep water and umbrella rigs, but I like the way that rod feels so much I'm interested in how the other models in this series performs as well.  They are extremely light rods.

They are Bass Pro's top selling rod. They must have a few fans for sure!

I personally have one. I bought the Carbonlite Combo. I have the 7 foot XF model with the micro-guides.

 

I've picked up St. Croix, Fenwick, etc.....most major brands, and I'd pit this rod against them any day. To make my point, I went with a buddy of mine who brough his Curado paired with a St. Croix. I noticed when I used my lightweight spinning rig to do some finesse fishing he would pick up MY combo to do his frogging. I asked him if he liked it, to which he kind of played it down, but the next week he had one on order for himself.

 

I know it's probably not got the sex appeal of these high end brands, and they sure are excellent rods, but I'm just saying that I wouldn't have any issues with considering the Carbonlite along with these others.

 

You're right, it's incredibly light, and the XF model has a great backbone. Like I said I have the Micro-Guide model and I like them, I can cast quite a ways.

 

I think you'd be happy with it as I am. Nice handle, lightweight, looks good, great action......basically all the things a person would look for in a rod.

I second PSN8, I own a couple of CarbonLites, and they are under rated. Great rods, they are light weight, strong, and I find them sleek looking. You will not be disappointed with this rod. Enjoy.

I bought my first one at the BPS Fishing Classic. To replace my spinning rod I broke last year. I picked up a 6'9" ML spinning rod. It has become my favorite spinning rod I am going to replace my other one that I broke at my last tourney with one. They fit in my hand great they are lightweight, strong and very sensitive. Well worth the money even better when you can get them on sale.

I love my Carbonlite rod.  Prefer it to my Veritas.  It's very light, balances well, and offers great feedback.  Definitely going to be buying more.

I've got 5 of them. I have a feeling at some point they'll be the only casting rods I have, they're that good. And when they go on sale for $79, I don't think there is a better deal out there.

I have a 6'-6" MH/F spinning. Love it, great rod. I second what others say, you will love them.

I have 3 and love them. I use a lot of Crucial's and Cumara's  and I feel the Carbonlites compare quite well. They have that light, crisp feeling I love in a rod.

Great rod, the rod you are looking at is light as heck. Should be a pleasure to fish. Id like that model myself for jigs.

I have two.  One spinning, one casting, both 6'8", both MH, both 2 years old.  I love them both, but my spinning rod broke at the second eye from the tip this year while setting a hook.  I brought it into BPS the next day and they told me to go choose a new one off the rack.  Excellent customer service considering the rod was two years old and out of warranty.  I opted for the 7'2" and it's been really nice.  They're both very light and sensitive all-around rods.  I actually boated a 36" musky last year while jigging for walleye with my 6'8" and it had NO issues bringing in that fish.  It was bent in half, and a super-fun fight.  Great rods, but I was surprised by the break this year.

Well I pulled the trigger. I needed a long heavy rod as that was the only rod missing in my arsenal. I plan to use it when fishing football jigs or larger swim baits in deep water with 17 lb fluoro and when i throw the umbrella rig on 50 lb braid. I don't flip heavy cover much, but if I ever do it will probably be good for that too...and it is unbelievably light for a 7'6" Heavy EF rod. I thought the Ducketts were were light until I felt this one. Thanks for all the replies.

I've been using a 7' medium Carbonlite baitcaster with a BPS Johnny Morris reel and really like it. I also have a 6'6" Ugly Stick', 7' Vendetta, and 6'6" Veritas baitcast rods. It's a toss up between the Carbonlite & Veritas, with a slight edge going to the BPS because I seem to feel more with the BPS.
