Little Mom and Pop shops have the local things that big chain stores dont carry. I would much rather go to litlte mom and pop shops. If I lived near one, I would be there a few times a week, looking around and talking to the people in there. Quote

Super User ww2farmer Posted August 17, 2013 Super User Posted August 17, 2013 Otherwise, very few small bait shops have what I need, aside from the odd bag of hooks or plastics. Same here, about the only stuff I buy local is my ice fishing line, bait, and jigs. Quote
Missourifishin Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I have a BassPro right around the corner, which is great. I don't know of any mom n pop places within 30 minutes of here though. If I did, I'd love to support them, and I'd probably enjoy the shopping experience of a small place a little bit more. Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted August 17, 2013 Super User Posted August 17, 2013 There used to be several "old timey" bait shops around but sadly there's one left and the guy that runs and owns the place Is garbage so for me It's a few of the board sponsors, BPS, and TW. I really miss going to the one that closed 2 months ago as there were great folks, great stories, and while they were a bit higher I never had a problem because keeping money in the local economy was and still is Important to me. derekxec Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 i go where ever im near at the time that has what i need...but i prefer small shops because they usually are fisherman themselves and will usually tell you where a hot bite is or what the water conditions are Quote
