Super User Sam Posted August 16, 2013 Super User Posted August 16, 2013 Chick River is overfished. Chick Lake has too much grass. Otherwise, both are great places to wet a line. Please introduce yourself in the Introductions Section. On the Chick you 1) don't waste your time if the wind is from the east; fish the creeks; hit all of the pads; watch out for the VDG&IF conservation officers in the big creeks as they are issuing tickets for going too fast within 50-feet of a pier, dock or moored boat. You can still catch those big Florida strain bass in the Chick River but they are few and far between. Just hit all the pads, wood, Cyprus trees, docks, piers and the creeks. The main river can be good depending on the tide and clarity. When you go on the Chick River don't forget to check the tide charts. As you know, a falling tide is best on the Chick River. Be patient and keep on chucking. Quote
