Super User Montanaro Posted August 16, 2013 Super User Posted August 16, 2013 Anyone ever use drop shots for trout, especially brown trout in rivers and streams? I've had them hit small rapalas so I think a lifelike finesse technique like a dropshot with a juicy soft plastic would entice some large brown trout. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted August 16, 2013 Super User Posted August 16, 2013 Not drop shot but have used a river rig. Similar idea.... Jeff Quote
Kevin22 Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Drop shot really isnt ideal in the strong streams/creeks/rivers where browns typically are. You may have more success with it in deep slower holes. Give the gulp 2.5" minnow a try, trout love them in streams. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted August 16, 2013 Author Super User Posted August 16, 2013 Getting hung up in rocks is certainly a concern. Luckily a lot of weights can be popped off after getting snagged, but I may end up needing a couple bags of them... Just trying to think of some new trout tactics. Quote

Broc Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Imsure that a drop shot rig would work for browns, especially in lakes. I have never rigged a drop shot for browns but i use a 3 way swivel rig with a rapala. The set up is very similar though. Quote
