The water pressure is why the fish aren't biting I think and the hurricane that's on the way isn't going to make fishing any easier

Thanks for all the advice. I'm actually at bass pro right now haha. Getting a pack of flukes and a couple frogs

AK, I actually think if the incoming system does make its way here, its way to early to tell. But if it gets close enough to affect us I think it will turn on the fish, before it turns them off. The window will be short however.

AK, you are frustrated?? You have lead the entire summer, with no one coming close to you, and you said you are frustrated! LOL. You may be experiencing what many of us have been feeling all summer long.

I catch all mine early so it's frustrating. I got that fat 18" the other day and then dropped the big girl taking the hook out. I had two days where I caught a few. My thing is early summer I was catching a lot even if they were under 18" now seems like I catch none or just a few and the occasional big one. I like catching numbers of fish even if they aren't huge so it's just frustrating.

On top of that I miss so many fish. If Dave was on this site he could back me on that lol I am the king of missing the hook set on my frogs

Guys, let me tell you...I went fishing last night in the canal that runs around my community and SPLASH SPLASH SPLASH! OOHHHH how much I love fishing top water now lol. I was fishing horny toad and a fluke.

I done a little research before I went out fishing to figure out how to fish those little guys. Horny toads are definitely different when it comes to hook sets; not like a worm. I missed about 3 fish because the hook set is so different. Come to find out, you have to slam the hook into the fish or he'll get away. I end up pulling 1-2 out with it but like I said missed about 3.

My new favorite top water/swim lure...THE FLUKKEE!! Guys, I'ma just put it like this. The fish were crushing my fluke so hard, 3 of them I had to take a knee to get the hook out. We had ourselves a little operating room on the side of the canal. One had the hook in his throat...IN his throat. I seriously though I might had to cut it because it was hooked (looped) in his throat. Blood would puddle up and he would open his throat to swallow it. Finally got the hook out but after the poor fish took off, he swimmed back to me; floated on the edge for about 20mons. I think he was telling me to take him out of the misery. Too bad I didn't have a net or anywhere to throw his remains. The other two, one had it in the top of his throat but not bad and the other wasnt as bad neither. Had to cut a piece of his skin to release the hook. The rest boys, perfect hook sets. If you're not fishing flukes and toads , go out and ****** up a pack but hopefully you can make it to some water at night. I was out from 10-30-11ish (pm) till 1-130 this morning.

I bought a live target frog but unfortunately they didnt want him last night. I guess they were either very active and wanted fast stuff or the water was too open (no leaves, grass, pads) to fool them with a popping frog. Thanks for reading my essay btw. I just like sharing my experiences since I'm finally catching LMB. Oh yea, last night catches were nice size. They got bigger the more I threw the fluke haha. I think the smallest was 2lbs and biggest 3-3.5

AK-NK, read my post ^^. Lol I missed about 3-4 fish on a frog last night. Horny toad to be exact

Juan, I am glad you are having success with your night fishing. There are definitely learning curves that come with the different techniques. The experience will come with time. As far as the flukes what was the hook size you were using if you do not mind me asking? To have them get so deep hooked makes it sound like either the hook was small, or you were detecting them too late.

I fish with the bass pro shops magna hooks, size 5/0. I have no clue with the hook is going so deep in their mouth. I figured they were just coming up and trying to inhale the fluke...bad news, that's a hook haha. With my flukes, I never feel the bite. I would try and give it another twitch, I'll feel the weight of a fish, and just pull up. I don't even set the hook because they pretty much hook themselves.

Yea Juan the misses comes with froggin. If I could land every fish that hits my frog August wouldn't be frustrating.

But night fishing is cool because you have to rely on sound and feel.

AK I like yah, but I don't feel bad for you. LOL. Gives me a fighting chance to pull off an upset in August. ;) Juan, 5/0 hook is a very big hook. Those night time bass sure have an appetite. Night time fluke fishing is all feel based.

I went and picked up some size 2 hooks. I'm going to give them a shot but they were inhaling the 5/0. I feel like the 2/0 will disappear like an alligator ate it. we'll see though haha. You're absolutely right, night time fishing is all about feel.

went fishing last night. those monsters were destroying the fluke again guys. I know where the big ones be at now. Only trick is what night are they biting and if they're in the area. Might not be there if I go tonight. Oh yea, my canal is full of peacock bass btw. I can see them swimming around at the top. Tried to get them to bite but all they will do is follow my lure. I researched them when I got home and come to find out they won't bite plastics. Have to throw a spinner or something hard

I am glad you came across monsters. Pics? Full moon, so it should be interesting. Pea's usually go for fast moving, jerky baits. They will on rare occasions go for soft plastics, like the pea I caught last month. What part of town are you doing your fishing.?
