MIbassin Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Hey guys, For you big bait enthusiasts: I know that there are many different types of swim baits such as soft baits, glide baits, wake baits, etc.. And i know that you throw what you have confidence in but could you tell me when it is more ideal to use each one?? For example, when is a glide bait preferred over a wake bait or regular hard swimbait? what cover? time of day? etc.. Thanks! Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted August 12, 2013 Super User Posted August 12, 2013 The answers are going to vary from area to area, state to state, even body of water to body of water. Short answer: Softbaits in cooler to cold water. Hardbaits in warmer water. Billed wakebait for when there is some chop on the water, lipless floater hardbait when the water is calm. The best way to tell you is to not tell you at all. That way, you have no preconceived notions about what "should" work. Experience and time on the water makes it less difficult to figure out. There is no real "right" answer. 2 Quote

I hope other swimbait anglers chime in because I would love to see their preferences and when and where to throw a certain type of swimbait. Quote
