THE BASS WHISPERER Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 i have a CI4 3000 and absolutley love it ! im planning on getting another. But just maybe ill get a sustain ! does anyone here have any advise on the 2 ? i mean how much better can it be? i feel as thou the CI4 is a racehorse already. should i spend another $100 ? Is it worth it ? your thoughts please . Quote
Super User tomustang Posted August 12, 2013 Super User Posted August 12, 2013 I don't think it's worth a $100 more, but at least buy a CI4+ which is the newer CI4 Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted August 12, 2013 Super User Posted August 12, 2013 If "thehooligan" doesn't see this thread and respond shoot him a pm. I know he has owned or owns the sustain and both the new and previous generation CI4. He would be a great person to ask if the price of the sustain is justifiable. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 12, 2013 Super User Posted August 12, 2013 Not that there is anything wrong with those reels but I wouldn't buy either one. For me a round knob is a total deal breaker and I couldn't justify the expense for the kind of fish I'd be targeting with them. If I were to stay in the Shimano family a stradic fj would be a consideration, but I'd be looking elsewhere too. Quote

Knobs are easily interchangeable on shimano spinning reels, no reason to not fish one.... To the op, cant go wrong with either one. Ive owned every shimano spinner besides the stella and can tell you that the ci4 and sustain are the best bang for your buck. As kicker said, id recommend the new ci4+, feels identical to my sustain and its $100 cheaper. 2 Quote
