Looking For All Around Casting Rod

I have a shimano curado and im looking for a new rod. I want something that can do a little bit of everything (crankbaits, spinnerbaits, swimjigs, topwater). 180$ or less.

 

Any recommendations?

St Croix M/Fast casting rod.............pick your price range. Triumph = $80, Mojo =$100, Premier = $120, Rage = $150, Avid = $190, Legend Tournament = $250, Legend Elite = $350, and Legend Extreme = $390. I do everything you want to do, and more with my 7' M Legend Tournament/Curado 51E combo. I almost foolishly sold it, but I have yet to find a rod that can replace it's versatility.

I'll second the vote for a St. Croix Avid, LTB, or Legend Elite/Extreme. I'm starting to look for another casting rod as well so I will be interested to see what other responses you get. While I love my Croix's I'm very tempted by a Dobyns Champion, a Phenix M1 or MBX, *** Black Ency, or a Megabass Orochi XX.

The best all purpose lines of rods I have used are the Cumara black. The best individual stick would have to be my 6'10 Med. Heavy Mod. Fast Fenwick Elite Tech smallmouth rod. The Kistler KLX line are somewhat labeled as technique specific, however with the Mod. Fast rods action and semi parabolic action makes them very versatile as well. Pretty much most Med. Heavy Mod. Fast rods can do a whole lot of things. It drives me crazy when rods are technique specific labeled because every persons idea of how a certain technique type rod should handle can be quite different.

Good luck finding a 1st-gen Cumara! I can tell you, I've used my 7'2" MH Cumara for anything (except deep cranks) and it works great. Granted I've never thrown something smaller than a 1/4oz shaky head with it.

 

If you don't want to spend $250, look into a Crucial too. It's a LITTLE heavier than a Cumara and a LITTLE less sensitive. Only time I can tell a difference between the two is switching straight from one to the other. 

 

St. Croix also makes a great rod. Have a Medium Triumph for dropshot and really like it. Regardless of what you choose, a MH in 6'10"-7'2" is  solid move.
