buzzfrog Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Ok was looking for a crucial and my Dicks finally started carrying them. I have been fussing on phone past 2 weeks with Dicks about the score point crap, I haven't got any the past 2 years. So today they sent me a ton of 10 buck certificates and a 20.00 off 100.00. So I can get one for about 70.00 Ok a bit confused on shimanos warranty. so the over counter says that for 5 year or life time I can take it back to Dicks and get a new one, right? but that is only for there error in rod breakage Also the Dicks instore warranty, the way the manger explained is, that it cover idiot error(me) as well as any other thing that happens to it. As a shore fisherman I try but sometimes my stuff gets a tad banged up. IF you was me would you get he Dicks warranty aswell. She also explained that; say you break the rod 6 months in, you get a new one, you still have 6 months left for that one. Quote
derekxec Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 sometimes its worth it...i just bought a motorola blue tooth headset from best buy and their warranty covers everything...dude said it doesnt matter if i break it on purpose and take it back they will give me a new one..also if they dont have the model that i bought they will give me the next newer one as replacement but check with dicks to make sure it covers like that just make sure fully what all it covers due to your error before hand Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 11, 2013 Super User Posted August 11, 2013 So Peckers is carry Crucials? Will have to check out the Peckers around my house. Thanks for letting us know. Quote
Kevin22 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Read the bottom of those dicks score card coupons. They say you can't use them in conjunction with any other coupon or offer. They got me when I tried to do the same thing. Had two of the $10 score card things and a $20 off 100+. They only let me use the 20 off 100+. Lately I've just been throwing away the coupons they send. Not worth it to drive out there and get $10 off a product that is already 20% above retail. Quote
derekxec Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 oh also lol make sure your coupons are still valid........i stopped using my dicks card because they kept sending me the $10 coupons that expired 2 months before i got them lol........ Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted August 11, 2013 Super User Posted August 11, 2013 the 20$ off 100$ can't be used with shimanos . The DSG has carried crucials for a while now. I personally wouldn't buy the Dick's in store warranty for shimano rods. I'm pretty sure the Crucials are covered by a life time over the counter warranty where you can take the rod into any shimano dealer and they will give you a new one. Others that have used it could give you a little more insight. Quote
buzzfrog Posted August 11, 2013 Author Posted August 11, 2013 well took the plunge except dicks warranty, they let me use all my 10 buck gift cards. and the 20 off a 100 wouldn't work at beginning but manager did it manually and it was about 70. said I had 30 days to decide on the warranty, this manager is the bomb on the back of receipt there is that do the survey and get 10 off of 50, she actually told me to go home do and bring the rod back tomorrow return it and buy it back at 70 plus the 10 off. Which is odd, but I have been hitting up the clearances there and it was my only store id go to till academy opened a block away so maybe she is sweet on me lmfao Quote
Super User tomustang Posted August 11, 2013 Super User Posted August 11, 2013 Higher up shimanos have the over the counter warranty, the dicks one isn't worth it for those. Also I've never had a problem with their coupons with others and sale items. Every Dick's I've been too has treated me great. Quote
buzzfrog Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Sleight thanks, will stick with the shimano one Quote
wngan9447 Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 I've been to 4 different dicks here and they all have been great. I actually just exchanged my mojo for a crucial and I got my mojo crazy cheap. I returned my rod plus warranty I purchased with the mojo. I had a 20% off that brought the mojo down to $128. After using my score card rewards, I exchanged the rods at no addition costs. Love the store, althought the closet one to me is the least stocked. The better stocked one just got a shipment of GYCB hard baits. Picked up a few and used the coupon as well. Quote
buzzfrog Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 what is BBB, any thanks yall, I will baby this thing. Will be my casting jig rod, gonna throw some footballs with it Thursday Quote
derekxec Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 better business bureau....only one i bought so far was the headset one from best buy and ive used it and worked but but not sure about dicks though Quote
zachb34 Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Dicks warranty is great I broke a rod all I had to do was send them the receipt they have me store credit no questions asked didn't even have to send the rod in Quote
buzzfrog Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 haha, then you didn't even show them the rod, gonna get the warranty; then go out and say it broke and fell in the water Lol nope, next go around, all my rods would get flipped in water. 1 Quote
WiregrassRiverRat Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 For real buzz frog.. going to buy a loomis out there now and do that haha.. until it backfires and then I just have an overpriced loomis haha Quote
gripnrip Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Be careful with the store warrantees. Most are just money makers and do not hold salt. I had a couple of the "no matter what happens" warrantees and the claims were refused because of owner neglect as it was put. There is also a article on the BBB that says never buy the extended warrantee. I say it depends. Had I listened to what the BBB says, and not purchased an extended warranty on a transmission, I would have been out another 1700 bucks. Or I would have spent another $250 on a weedeater that I purchased. That warranty cost me $10. Some warranties are worth the money. Others are not. Quote
Kevin22 Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 $10 means so little now a days that it is very worth it to buy extended warranty on items that do not come with over the counter replacement built in to the mfg warranty. I mean really, the cost of a good crankbait to insure that your expensive rod/reel will be replaced instantly is WELL worth it. Quote
