Picked up 2 as a package deal over the winter.  No boxes or paper work.  Search didn't turn up anything except BPS reviews.  Had read that some feel these are better than the new models.  Would someone please give me the specs for this reel?

Had put them away and forgotten about them until a member posted in the Flea Market wtb older Prolite Finesse reels.

Good thing I got them mixed up with the Prolite Finesse reel.  Otherwise I probably wouldn't have done what I did tonight.  I laid down a 12# base and topped off with some 6# XL I had laying around.  Mounted reel on a 6'9" Falcon Expert Light and tied on a 3/16 oz. Shad Rap.  Headed to the boat ramp to see what I could see.

NICE!!!!  Didn't have my finesse combo with me tonight, but I would guess the Carbonlite/Falcon combo is tossing that 3/16 oz. lure nearly as far as the 105H/Fenwick.  Maybe even as far.   Sweet.  :teeth:  Of course, both combos still need fine tuning.  Also line on 105H is heavier than the 6# on the Carbonlite.

Now I need another casting rod suitable for the other Carbonlite.  I am not worried about their graphite side plates since they won't be used to horse bass out of weed beds or lily pads.  Probably won't even use them for fish as big as bass although one could always hope a nice bass would hit the small lures I plan on using with these reels.

EDIT:  Meant to mention that if the Prolite Finesse casting reels handle light lures better than the Carbonlite, then I need to locate one at a good price.

Very good reels for the money.  Very capable of any bass fishing you would like to do.

Thanks, Avery.  Any idea what the line capacity is?

12 lb. / 120 yds.   The IPT for the reel in the 6.4:1 ratio was 26"

weight is 6.7 ounces. very good reels but should not be confused with the prolite finesse which was built on an 05-sized frame whereas the carbonlites use 10-size frames.

Carbonlites are fine reels and great values. I already had two CLs but bought two more when BPS was closing out their final batch at $60 each. I'm still waiting for some reels to wear out so I can put those last two CLs to work...

The ProLite reels are a favorite of mine, in particular the 3rd (and last) generation - the "C" model (PRL05HC) - VERY nifty reels.  On whether the PL or CL are better at tossing lighter baits - there is probably a slight edge to the PL.  The spool weights between the models are close, but the PL has a reduced line capacity (rated at 100/10lb) so the overall spool/line weight would probably be slightly lighter on the PL.

Both models of reel work, catch fish...

Nice collection indeed, Goose.  I'll have to keep my eyes open for one.  Not that I need another reel, but would love to have another 30 or so.  :teeth:

Thanks guys - a lot of capability there for not many bucks (not counting that GLX rod)....

On getting a ProLite "C" - I think the word is out on them as they're getting a bit spendy when they show up on eBay. I paid $80 for one of my PLs (new) when BPS was clearing them out. The other two I got on eBay - one for $41, the other for $50.  You can't usually win an auction for a "C" model at those types of prices anymore...

Kind of like the word has gotten out about the Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth rods.  Can't find any new tyd for $71 anymore.  Should have bought more when I had the chance.  :sad78:

I seldom look at ebay unless someone gives a link to a deal.  That is how I got my Quantum SuperLite.  I'll just have to keep haunting the classifieds.

Hey A-Jay - I'm actually gonna RETIRE at least two reels in 2015 (have to catch a couple hundred more bass on them first) so the line-up will retract a bit...................................BUT the bait monkey is already whispering in my ear about what the next three additions should be...........................

Winter is a dangerous time when it comes to the bait monkey. ;)

Lucky to have picked up one of the Gold Carbonlites when they were closing them out. Between the sale and the extra points I had I got it for $30. Can't be beat for that price!
