Super User Jigfishn10 Posted August 10, 2013 Super User Posted August 10, 2013 I really want ot give these a try but I'm not sure how to rig, any suggestions? Please keep in mind that we can't use lead: Lead jigs, lead weighted hooks or lead sinkers. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted August 10, 2013 Super User Posted August 10, 2013 I find screw lock weighted swimbait hooks to be best on hollowbody swimbaits. However a non-lead one would be new to me. I'm sure they have them as someone is always trying to accommodate the lead-free fishermen. Check on TWH, lots to look at there. Quote

Super User bigbill Posted August 10, 2013 Super User Posted August 10, 2013 I don't mean to go off the topic but sooner or later this will follow, I use only a weedless hook with most plastics. I Or I use the cork a few hooks on the larger plastics. I get more strikes per cast than any other lure but they miss it. There not hooking up. They seem to be short strikes. It's like there playing with the tail. How do you get better hook ups? I had one hook up in November here while it was snowing. It bent my rod in half. The pb of ten pounds didn't do that. Then it got off. Seeing this tells me I need rods with more mid to upper backbone for the bigger record breaking bass. My presentation was twitched like a dying minnow. Again my 3 small twitches and a pause makes it walk the dog perfectly. Quote

I'd never throw on mono because of the severe stretch but that's just me.You can always add a treble on the under side of the hook to help hook up ratio. I never have a problem really. Plus I fish very weedy lakes and a treble would be a headache. Quote

Super User Jrob78 Posted August 11, 2013 Super User Posted August 11, 2013 You can also fish them on a weightless hook and use a tungsten bullet weight, like you would a regular tx rig. Quote
