I'm about to turn 16, I've worked 30 hour weeks just about all summer now it's my time to treat myself and I think siebert is the way to do so..

But my dilemma is not knowing what to get..

How are the punching rigs?

Is the "blue gill" skirt worth trying?? I fish mostly were gills are the main forage.

Has anyone tried his swim jigs? They look good to the eye and they're cheap.

And lastly, are the rattle bands durable? I love wire tie but since the water I fish is so dark I almost think rattle bands would help.. Thanks a ton for the advice!

The bluegill skirt was working well....until I snagged on a deep rock and couldn't get free.  The color flat out works though, it puts them in the boat!

 

I like the swim jigs in our neck of the woods.  I got a bunch of brush heads too and found I prefer the swim jigs.

 

I wish I had gone with all wire ties, you can add a rubber one with the rattles for cheap.  Just pick up those parts yourself and get the wire tied goodness.

 

I don't have any experience with his punching rig, but they look great, probably get some with my next order.

Mike Sieberts stuff is top notch. I have the 3/8 swim jigs in Blue Gill and they are AMAZING.  I just tried them last weekend and like you I fish in Wisconsin Eurasian milfoil plagued lakes and they come through weeds really well, so that is a definite plus.  

I have also used his punch skirts. They are every bit as good if not better than what you can find on the shelves at the tackle shop, plus he's cheaper than most.  

I have no experience with the rattle bands, as I rarely use rattles on my jigs but someone else can chime in.  I think you will be extremely pleased with your purchases with Siebert, he makes an awesome product.

brush jig/football jig/swim jig. all outstanding products that you will love. you can get by with the rubber skirt collar if you want to save a few dollars but the first time you set the hook and the skirt+ jig trailer is hanging on the hook bend, you will realize you should have got the wire tie.

You should be able to slide rattle bands over the bait holder barb on a wire tied jig without any hassle.  Mike's stuff is great, and VERY durable.  I've had a Storm Series jig tied on since April.  The head is worn down to the lead, but the skirt is better than any week old rubber band skirt I've used.

I don't have any experience with the Seibert products but have read many good things.  I mainly wanted to chime in and congratulate you for your hard work.  It is becoming increasingly rare to have a young person like you who is willing to put in the time over summer to work hard and save for something they want.  Enjoy it!

Buy the Sieberts, you won't be disappointed.  His products are quality!

I just got some Sieberts Dredge Head jigs and they are top notch. They're made with the Owner Deep Throat hooks and the cutting point on those hooks won't let you down. The paint job on the heads are of the highest quality.

As for the bluegill color, It's been a real fish catcher!

 

As for he rattlebands, I have several and have never had any problems.

 

I can safely say Mike sells quality products at a great price and the customer service Is second to none.

I have to agree with markho24, the man gives sound advice. I just started using swim jigs in a stained lake and a mixture of chartreuse, greens and blacks, all bluegill representing, visible colors, has helped me a ton. I haven't used rattle bands before, but a combo willow leaf Colorado blade spinner bait (which comes through thick veggies just fine), with a visible curly tail grub/ split or paddle tail worm trailer has worked wonders, though if you are adamant about sticking to swim jigs, I would say to used a decent trailer (paddle tail/ crawfish tube for vibration) and noticeable colors should be your first move before tying on rattles.  Just see which works better, with or without noise and compare.
