JeziHogg Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 I've recently started making wooden swim baits. I was wondering where I can find rubber fins/tails, i'd like to use them over using bristles. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 9, 2013 Super User Posted August 9, 2013 Most guys that build swimbaits mold their own. Quote
JeziHogg Posted August 9, 2013 Author Posted August 9, 2013 They just use that plastisol stuff? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 9, 2013 Super User Posted August 9, 2013 The tails on my Mattlures Gills, MS Mini Slammers, etc. all look like the same material used to make any other plastic worms or creatures. Quote

Slammers, yes. Matt uses something different now, much more durable than others. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 9, 2013 Super User Posted August 9, 2013 I'm still on my second tail, after three years. The only reason the 1st tail got shredded was because I was pike fishing, lol. If I was making my own baits, I guess I wouldn't worry about it too much. Matt, on the other hand, has a reputation of making some of the finest baits on the market. Any slight improvement is icing on an already perfect cake. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted August 10, 2013 Super User Posted August 10, 2013 They just use that plastisol stuff? Plastisol comes in different levels of hardness, for a swimbait tail I would try the saltwater formula. Allen Quote
