Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 9, 2013 Super User Posted August 9, 2013 Trying to remember off the top of my head as I checked this out once. The pay for Congress in 1789 was around $6.00 per day while in session and that's without many benefits they have now. Today Congress is in session around 130-190 days a year, inflation adjusted $6.00 would be about a $158 today, on the top side 190 days x $158 = $30,000. Even if they were paid for a full year at $158 it's still only $57,000. 1 Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted August 9, 2013 Super User Posted August 9, 2013 I'll admit that it would make me feel better too. Other than that, it really accomplishes nothing. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted August 9, 2013 Super User Posted August 9, 2013 I also bet the 100k comment was referring to the OT as well which isn't always calculated in the standard salary figures. This statement is true as far as Chicago police. I have numerous CPD in my family and there is a ton of overtime because the force is understaffed. It's cheaper for the city to pay the OT than hire new officers Quote
Super User slonezp Posted August 9, 2013 Super User Posted August 9, 2013 You could always get a cover up that says TATTOOS ARE PERMANENT I've got them on my upper arms, legs, chest, back, and lower lip. None which are visible with jeans and a t-shirt. Rather than being a Trooper, what about a beat cop? Probably won't need to remove them. Quote

I could go county or town sheriff or even corrections officer and keep them. The counties and towns are so small out here we only have like seriously 5 sheriffs for the county and most towns don have there own force. It's extremely hard to get into our county is all young new guys out Of the academy so have to wait for one to leave or retire and who knows when that is. Quote

It's all gonna come down to the test and where I stand against everyone else in the state if its looking good and I'm gonna get hired on they get removed, if I'm low and not very likely then well maybe ill take the corrections test or try a local agency Quote

Least you ain't having to close holes in your ears up. My buddy had 4/0 guages in his ears. They told him he had to have them closed up before he could join. He had it done. Took him awhile and he said it hurt like all hell. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 10, 2013 Super User Posted August 10, 2013 I don't think it's any different than a required dress code for types of employment. Quote
