Best Line For Spinning Gear...

I fish texas rigged worms religiously, and im talking like 99.9% of the time i fish a texas rigged worm. I started fishing fluorocarbon line for the added feel of the bait and bite. I went with 8lb line so i would have an easier time with it on my spinning gear. I have already noticed the memory issue with the fluorocarbon, and I get knots every so often. What would be the best setup for spinning gear? I love the feel and "invisibility" of the fluoro, Just not the knots.  what do you think of braided line with a fluoro leader? Thanks.

10# Power Pro with a fluorocarbon leader would be the best choice.

Braided with a fluoro leader is going to be a lot easier. But personally I am having NO PROBLEMS with 8# seaguar red label fluorocarbon. I've been using it for 2 weeks now on pretty much a daily basis and I have had only one loop. I have also tried trilene 100% and cannot say the same, lots of memory, lots of loops, and just a pain. 

 

So if you have $12 to spare, give 8# seaguar a try. Actually I might even step it up to 10# for t-riggin. Red label is one size smaller than typical mono, so 10# would have 8lb dia. 

 

Just remember with fluoro it is VERY important to get fresh line. Buy only from a big store like gander mtn, dicks sporting goods, bass pro, cabelas, and stores like that. 

 

If you do want to go braid with a fluoro leader, I would highly suggest 20# power pro in the hi-viz yellow. Run a 5-6' fluoro leader and you will be golden.

On the majority of my spinning rods braid with a leader is my choice, I no longer use F/C line or leader.  I do use a mono or copoly when using specific lures that are constantly spinning, that adds twist at even faster rate.  I do make a point of trolling my line out at the end of each outing, but I do that just so many times before I just replace all the line.

Everyone has to find their own niche, I'm not particularly brand loyal, but do feel healthy line and leader is my #1 priority in fishing.

I have a love hate relationship with spinning tackle.  I can only cope with it if I use braid and I hate braid.  I agree that knots with F/C are a pain.  Using it as a leader for braid just adds more knots into the equation.  I've never had a feeling that mono was taking away my ability to sense a bite so I now stick to it for leader.  Maybe try a heavier lb. test since it'll have less stretch, I stick to at least 14lb. mostly using 20lb mono specifically made for leader and sensitivity is not an issue.

Straight 10lb braid for muddy/stained water. If you fish clear water throw on a 6-8lb flouro/copoly leader. I dont like tying knots with flouro so i use pline flouroclear and that stuff works great for me. Plus its affordable...

Yes, you have another knot that MAY fail,

but to state the obvious if you take your time and tie it correctly it becomes a non factor.

I use InvizX 6-10lb, kvd line & lure helps with memory, close the bail with your hand, and I raise my rod tip slightly to take out extra slack in the line before reeling.

Depends on the fishing conditions.

 

I like 8-pound Yo-Zuri or 100% Trilene Fluorocarbon for spinning reels.

 

When throwing Shad Raps or other light weight crankbaits on a spinning rig I will go with BPS or Trilene mono.

 

Being limited by the spinning reel's line test parameters, you have to decide which line test is best for your Texas rig based on where you are fishing, what baits you are throwing and if you will be abusing the line via underwater structure and the expected size of the bass.

Having used baitcasters for most of my bass fishing I went back to spinning when braid came out.

I'm using Diawa Tournament SS 1300 and 1600 size reels. On the 1300's I use #15-20 Powerpro with #10-15 test P-line CXX leader 3'-10' in length depending what i'm throughing. On the 1600 size i'll use #30-40 powerpro and tie direct because I only use that combo for frogging or thick grass.

Thats why I use reading glasses and have a magnifying glass as backup

Here is another option you can try. You can try the Berkley Nanofil line with a Trilene 100% fluorocarbon leader. The Nanofil was designed for spinning reels and is more sensitive then braided lines. This line casts further because of it's small diameter. If you not comfortable with tying a uni-not you can also use a small barrel swivel because most of the time when people break off using this application it's because of the knot their using.
