EdRitchie Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I getting better with the bait casters I have . But I was watching some youtube videos and see anglers with looks to be lighter line and tackle ? would a senko be heavy enough used wacky style ? Ed Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted August 8, 2013 Super User Posted August 8, 2013 Yes a 5" senko is plenty heavy enough for bc use. Quote
Bassfishing375 Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 5" senkos is pefect for baitcasters and never had a problem, but it takes some getting used to if you are using a MH I would recommend a M. I have used 4" senkos in the past so it is fine. Quote
Cgrinder Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 A 5" Senko with a 3/0 EWG is something like 3/8 oz, if I'm not mistaken? 1 Quote
jherm87 Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I throw the 4 inch senko on a medium ***, with a chronarch 50e on 10lb flouro. It works for me, I prefer it with a 1/4 oz weight t rigged, but have thrown them wacky without much issue. I prefer the 5 inch for wacky rigs myself as well Quote
Super User bigbill Posted August 8, 2013 Super User Posted August 8, 2013 I thought you were going to say you had a mini baitcaster like the one I have for panfish & crappies. A senko no problem. My smallest carolina rigged senko I use a 1/8oz weight. Just to give it some weight. Quote
EdRitchie Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 I have 2 bait casters, one with 65 lb braid for top water & frogs another with 14 lb copolymer. If I go lighter I start getting issues with smaller line burying itself . What if anything can be done to stop that ? Line not tight enough when spooling it on ? They work great when you finally get a hang of them Ed Quote

I have been using 40# Sufix Performance on an STX-L for 4 years. It goes to FL with me where I sometimes pull fish out of weed beds. Never had it dig in. Most of my MH casting rods carry 12# mono...Medium rods carry 8# mono. I don't have problems with line digging in on any of my rods. Hopefully someone will have an answer for you. Quote
Drewski73 Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I fish 20lb braid on baitcasters. It has the diameter of 6lb and never digs in. Youre probably not putting enough tension on your line when spooling up. Quote
EdRitchie Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 There both working better since I put heavier line on. When I first got them i had 10# mono on that really dug in . Ed Quote
