My plans this morning were to hit a local lake after work. Maybe around 4:30 or 5. I was gonna throw a deep diving crank and some other things to improve my deep water skills.

It has been steady raining ALL day!! With the very short occasional break. Also over ast skies. Would it be worth it to go out, or would the fish be completely turned off by all the rain?

I have had some of my best days fishing in the rain, only concern is if there is lightening, then I stay away.

Personally i rarely cancel a trip out unless it is really bad weather and usually only if it is thunderstorms.  There is always something to learn no matter what the conditions.

 

I say go out and see what you can do and even though yo uwant to learn the ropes on deep water techniques i have had some good days shallow after heavy rains.  My theory is things are being washed in from the bank which increases forage.

Sounds like a plan!! Thanks for the quick responses guys!! No thunderstorms. Just rain. Ill be going out, and if I get anything Ill def. keep everyone posted!!

The high for today is only 83*, which is like 5 or 6 degrees cooler than its been the past few days. It feels awesome outside. Alot cooler than the 80's actually.

I hope I can get something today. Its been TOUGH over here lately. I plan on throwing a deeper crank, and maybe a t-rig or c-rig. For shallows Ill probably throw a t-rig, frog, and maybe a senko. Not sure yet.. Im pretty excited to get out there actually.

Fish the rain!

 

I went out this afternoon and caught one black crappie on a Sexy Shad crankbait.

 

Not one other strike.

 

I missed the "window" as it had stopped raining by the time I ventured out.

A heavy rain with pressure system will likely halt feeding, but as others have said I've caught many fish in a light rain.

not to hijack, but still coldfronts feel like me trying to do calculus, lol with last nights storm and the my area temp dropping like 9 degrees, I don't even think I am gonna try to far away when it is proven that most bass shut there mouth.. yea yea I know smaller lures, etc may help but can foot the gas when before I get out, there is cards against me

Well, I went out and not too long after I got there the sun showed up. It went from feeling really great, to really humid.. Quick.

Not one single hit. I threw a jig, t-rigged brush hog, senko, crank, spook, and frog.. Nothing.

I ran into two guys also fishing, and one said the bite has been dead for the last 2 weeks. I believe it because I dont think Iv been able to get a hold of a decent fish in about a month. As much as I hate to say this, I may just take a break from fishing until maybe mid September. I need to prepare for the upcoming hunting seasons anyway.
