For the first time, I fished with these Craws. Although I didn't catch anything, I did try different techniques: t-rig, jig, swim jig, and weightless. I'm a big fan of using these as a swim jig and a weightless topwater. I can see a promising feature with these baits come fall.

hold on tight, these are very productive baits. keep t riggin them, when you get on the bass, they'll keep bitin' em 8-)

BTW, pm me your profile pic that got deleted ;D

I'm on my 6th pack using 1/8 oz. weighted hooks.

The difference in the action in between weightless hooks

and Tx. rig is astonishing...................it's the only bait I've used for 3 weeks.

When you use a weighted hook for these, where do you hook them (near the legs or on the opposite end)? Is the hook exposed or do you use the weighted hook like a texas rig? Also, what type of weighted hook are you using? Any help would be appreciated.

I finally ended the skunk streak, THANKS TO THE RAGE TAIL BABY CRAW! I rigged it weightless, pitched it around timber, slowly popped it up and down. it was small, probably 12", but heck, anything is better than nothing at this point! I took me a couple minutes to reel him in, he got wrapped around a stump and I had to work him back around, it was a good learning experience.

Use weighted hooks just like you would a standard Offset or EWG but without a bullet weight ahead of it.

I like Moaner weighted screw lock hooks, and use both 1/8 and the 1/4 oz depending on speed of fall desired. Use them for fishing any and all soft plastics on top of grass or in shallow calm conditions with a light lift and fall presentation. Also gives you many different finesse styles to choose from, slow horizontal fall like senko but with more action, or slow swim like a swimjig or swimbait.

Hope that helps

Yep, to all of that. I haven't tried the screw ins, but i did get that suggestion in my post on the ragetails.

i've been using the 1/8 oz and pulling them top water on

and around pads and weeds.

RE: the other question, I hook the just like you would hook

a weedless worm...........today I ran the hook BEFORE tying on.I put the hook in EYE first up through the head rather than having to push the leaded part of the hook through.

It helped the bait keep way better contact with the hook.

Looks like I'm going to buy those weighted hooks, lol.

Like I remind everyone, I'm still new at this. I was working back in the cove with standing timber. Bluegill and bass were coming up all around us. One bass came up in an inaccessable area of timber; she had to be at least 3lbs (that would be huge for me).

But I'm not getting any attention. Than I think about it; I've had my current Rage Tail Baby Craw on my hook for hours, the scent/flavor had to be gone. So I switch out, put on a fresh Rage Tail, and within the first few casts my skunk streak has ended (this streak was a 5 trip catching nothing at all skunk streak!).

She didn't hit. I cast next to timber, let the craw sink, and then slowly started yo-yoing it back. Then I was within 3 ft of a laydown log and let the craw sink again. Popped it a little, and the line got tight. So I reeled down and set the hook. I still had to get over some laydown log piles and the standing log that she wrapped around. Doing all this while using a hand trolling motor in a 14ft john boat to keep me from drifting away from her. It took me about 5 minutes to reel in a little dink bass, lol.

But this one dink bass taught me a lot in a 7 minute time period!

Try puting the craw on a jig just like Big-O has in his picture above. Thats a great bait for me.

Also as much as I LOVE rage tail, if I spent five days fishing it without a catch I would have to switch baits. Have you tried anything else?

I tried multiple jig colors and sizes with the craw with no luck. But yesterday was the first day I've ever fished with the craw, and it did produce, so I was happy.

If you're a new jig fisherman, you could well have had fish on and not even realized it.  There is definitely an art to using a jig.  A lot of the time you won't even realize a fish has the jig in it's mouth.  If it feels different, set the hook.

LOL.. Picture just went thru my mind... standing up in a 14ft aluminum boat...setting the hook 'cause it "feels a little different"...airball...no fish...jig shoots out of water right at fisherman's head...fisherman loses balance trying to duck... SPLASH!   ;)

That could make some very funny video.  ;D ;D

Don't wait for fall. This is a great bait right now!

8-)

Wish I had that choice, but I won't be able to fish again until the beginning of September. Then it will only been until November, after that will be spring of 2012.

If I had to wait that long to fish, someone would be getting hurt!

I can't think of a day that a rage craw didn't produce at least 1 fish for me... well, maybe before I started using them ;)

I find myself throwing them on weighted hooks a little more now that the bite is tough. I like the way they sit on the bottom on the weighted hook vs. the T-rig.

Yeah, I don't really have a choice to wait, it is what it is. But once I come back, I'm buying a boat, so I'm very excited about that.

I bought weighted hooks; I think 3/O, offset, 1/8oz. I put the craw on there, but I didn't get a hit the entire evening.

I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing or if it's the small lake I'm on.

I'm the only guy on the planet that can't catch on a Rage Tail product.  ;) I bought three sizes of craws for jig trailers... haven't caught a fish on a jig yet this year. Last year I bet 80% of my fish were on jigs.... I just grabbed a pack of Rage brush hogs, I have a good feeling about these. Maybe I can break the curse...

I just started fishing these too, both the craw and the "chunk" (which seems to just be a small craw).  Mine are the coffee ones.... you guys have a lot of success with that scent?

I have been using em as a trailer and was using one at night on a carolina rig.

One thing is a sliced my finger something fierce on the edge of the package.... I keep em in there to help keep the scent.

So far they have been more dangerous to me then the bass, but I think that will change very soon.

I'm right there with you, anacondas, thumper, spacemonkey, rooster, lizards, craws, and shad.  I've caught maybe two fish on the small anaconda.

Hmm...Got me stumped.

I have had great luck with all products from the very first

time I fished them. The Lobster, Craw and Baby Craw have

gotten me into a jig rut! Last weekend I broke out a bit and

smacked 'em with the Thumper.

This is the only thing I can think of, and please, don't be

insulted: Many of the Rage Tail baits MUST be rigged

precisely. Instructions are included in the packaging and on

their website.

:o

Kent, it ain 't the baits, it 's the operator.  ;)

Must be operator error, although it's kinda hard to screw it up as a jig trailer!  8-) They look awesome coming through the water, just no results. Kind of like the Spro BBZ shad.  ;)

Here's an informative thread topic for understanding CRAW fishing techniques. I think it will help anyone who might be having trouble with any particular Craw that they choose.

The first time using the Craw Chunk and catching a number of fish was in the spring on a Strike King Swim jig. The fish hit on both the Green Pumpkin and Black/Blue Flake swimming them to the rocks and the lifting and dropping them onto and over the rocks.

I pretty much t-rig the Craw in the same colors but haven't had as many hits.

I just recently purchased the Space Monkey in Green Pumpkin Seed and have been T-rigging them as well. They have been working pretty well swimming them over shallow weeds and grass early in the morning.

Gonna try the Space Monkey on a weighted hook over the weekend at a couple of new lakes and see how they produce.
