Super User bigbill Posted August 5, 2013 Super User Posted August 5, 2013 I did say it this spring, late spring means early fall. Where having cool 70 degree days and cooler nights. Is the hot dog days of summer over? It surely feels like it. It's time to dust off my cooler weather equipment already. I'm hoping after all the rain things settle down now and we can do some serious fishing if the weather stays on a steady pattern. What do you think? Quote
Mccallister25 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I wish we were having cooler days here in NC. were in the steady high 80's. it felt pretty good yesterday, and it really made me wish the leaves were falling. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted August 5, 2013 Super User Posted August 5, 2013 yeah I hear you but fall is my fav fishing time of the year... so if it comes early im fine with that ... these past few weeks of 95 plus have been pretty killer, and I don't want it back Quote

Super User *Hootie Posted August 5, 2013 Super User Posted August 5, 2013 Mid 50's morning, mid 70's afternoon for the last several days here in Cincy. Love it. Hootie Quote
Quitlimpin Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 DFW has hit its summer stride. I'd give my left nut for a day under 95 right about now. 2 Quote
BadBassWV Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I don't have any use for your left nut, but come to the mountains of WV Next few days are 75 for a high and low 60's at night. 1 Quote
SudburyBasser Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Already cooler up here in northern Ontario...still plenty nice but I have a feeling the hottest days are behind us. Quote
MK-9 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Been cool almost all summer here. It sucks. Hard. I hate (also see; loathe, despise, abhor, detest) winter / snow and barely got to do any fishing so far this year. Quote
0119 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 87 degrees at 10am today, 94 by 2pm. Anybody up there wanna trade houses? Quote

Super User bigbill Posted August 12, 2013 Author Super User Posted August 12, 2013 It's so much cooler here we had a big male black bear come out of the water shed and cross the road a few houses down from me. I think he's looking for a mate already. I think we will have an early snow. I been hunting with temps around zero, nothing is moving. I might try ice fishing again. Quote
MK-9 Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 I think we will have an early snow. Bite your tongue sir! 1 Quote

Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted August 12, 2013 Super User Posted August 12, 2013 Well why don't you cry about it saddle bags!!! Quote
aqualkinbush Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Its been in the mid to upper 80's here which is much cooler than the last few years. It was 100+ this time last year. Humidity is through the roof right now though. Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted August 13, 2013 Super User Posted August 13, 2013 Yeah experiencing the same here. I went on a cottage trip up north with the family last week. I had trouble the first two days to find the smallmouth bass (usually find them in 20+ ft of water). I kept nabbing a lot of good sized pike though. Anyway, on the the 3rd day decided to go to the creek/river mouths, hidden shallow coves and bays. I started nailing them after that. They also aren't hitting finesse or plastics. They wanted reaction type of baits - spinnerbaits, jitterbugs, squarebill crankbaits, buzzbaits..They were staying shallow, which isn't normal obviously and because of the above normal rain fall, the water is deep and the shoreline is further up the bank than normal. Everyone I speak to here are scratching their heads. A few of the local tournaments have had a lot of guys going in with 1 or no fish. They just can't find them in the normal pattern. The one guy who won on my local lake with 3 fish at 15lbs said they were far back in cover where you can't reach them with the new shoreline. He lost two fish because he had to pitch so far back into cover and had to cut the line because the boat couldn't get close and he could see the fish. It looks like they are starting to go into fall mode early...hopefully you are wrong and there won't be early snow though! Quote
mddrew88 Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 It's cooling off? In E. TX it's far from over. We're still seeing 95+ days and its been like this for the past month and a half at minimum. Hope it comes soon. Quote

Yeah at least for us guys up in the North Eastern area, temperature has been stable around low 70's and high 60's the past month. Quote

Some years it doesn't start cooling off til about November. Then again we never get snowfall this far south, but having lived in the sierra mountains before I'm just fine with that! Quote
