This is a very competitive price point.  Just about every rod in this range will work fine.  Pick what appeals to you.  There aren't too many duds out there, so you can be confident.

If you're up for buying used, you can get a Crucial for about that price.

If you must buy new, the *** is the way to go.

well I bit the bullet and got a Kistler KLX for $134 shipped.  I already have an ***, Dobyns, & Powell, so figured I would try another brand.

You'll love it!  I have an ALX deputy sitting here begging me for more time on the water but I cant seem to put my KLX down.  Caught my PB on it this morning as a matter of fact.

If you look into the Veritas rods from Abu Garcia I think that you would be very impressed. They have a lot of different models in the casting line and also in the Micro-Guide line if you prefer them. There are a lot of features that are built into these quality rods. These rods are very light and sensitive and one of the features that makes these so sensitive is the Abu designed "Extreme Exposure" reel seat. What that does is provides direct finger to rod contact for increased sensitivity. I hope this helps you the next time your out on the water.

I recommend the BPS 6'6", or 7' Carbonlite MH.  I have six of them and you can fish all day with comfort because they are so light and I mean really light.  They also handle a 12lb catfish and a 15lb Snakehead with no problem using 14lb BPS Flouro.
