I bought the 7'2" diesel earlier this season and I love it, I use it as a all purpose rod. Is the 7'6" just as good? I plan on using it for pitching and flipping only. Any opinions?

It's awesome! I love powell, I through jigs, spinnerbaits, and flip and pitch with it. It is a great rod, a lot of back bone and sensitivity!

well...first off i have heard many great things about all powell rods and i personally own 2 of the endurance series(and love them). BUT the rod you are talking about is a med heavy EXTRA FAST action rod. What that means is this rod shouldnt bend as much as a regular med heavy action rod. But from prior experience of powells i would say this may not be true. It will work for a pitching/flipping rod but might not be as stiff as you would like. You might want to wait until the powell inferno rods are realeased. They will most likely have a a rod that is better for pitching/flipping, and they have 5 year warranty where the diesel has no warranty. So if it was me i would wait and spend the extra bucks for the inferno( the inferno is coming out in october). I really hope this helps! As always tight lines!

I like the Diesel series...awesome rod for the money. Fish Ranger has them for $49 right now. Can't beat that deal! Get it man.

It's a great flipping rod. Maybe small swim baits. It's a little underpowered for A-Rigs, but that could just be me.

I have the 765, having used the following "Heavy" rods (7'6" Carrot Stix LTX, 7'6" Phenix Recon (currently own), 7'5" Crucial, 7'11" BPS Nitro).  The 765 is everybit as powerful as those, it's like the Nitro with WAY more balance/less tip heavy.  I've tossed ROF12 (~2.5oz) Hudd 68's with my Powell Diesel and had no issues.  I use it as a spare flipping stick or when I will be fishing areas where I am Frogging and Flipping and don't want to keep cutting and retying my Recon set up.  The Fish Ranger for $50 is a good deal until you see the $18 in shipping...

$18 is not very much. Try shipping a rod yourself. $25-35 is what it'll cost you depending how far it's gotta go. Plus buying a tube unless you have one. It's $68 shipped. TW is $69.99 before shipping.

FWIW I bought an endurance off the fish ranger last June. Heck of a deal then 109 shipped. The rod came in a bent cardboard tube. Luckily everything was all good and the rod was fine. For two bucks more though I would order from the other place because they package the rod in a beast of a tube.

What's the Labor Day sale offer??

It's usually 15% (Diesel would be $59.49)

Yeah, TW is free shipping over $50 but I always opt for the $5.00 2nd day air...that's the best shipping deal going in my opinion. If you do the free shipping with TW and don't upgrade to 2nd day air, prepare to wait for at least 5 days....Just letting you know.  $5.00 is pretty amazing for 2nd day air!

TW is awesome!

I will say I also had a great experience with The Fish Ranger, they're great to deal with as well. My Halo cranking rod came in a well packed, stout tube....

You can get the Diesel from either place...all good!
