hey yall, new fishermen here! i have spent the past 3 years in Anchorage Ak and 4 years befor that in Western Washington state and all most the hole time i missed out on some of the best fishing in the world. Just last summer i went trout fishing with a good friend and was just cough up on the magic of being out on the water. Being from MD i did not do alot of fishing other then cat once or twice growing up. But this last season i was out fishing every weekend, went halibit fishing and samon fishing. Now i am leaveing Ak for NC and looking forword to getting started on bass ! I have really took to trout with the sciance of it. what water, temp, time of year to use what and where to go.And from what i have read Bass is the same thing but more. i love that its a HOBBY  not just a thing to do . you need to read up and lurn how to fish and what to use when and where and what time of the day /type of day to fish. i lookforword to showing you my first catchins. Oh BTW curently in Afghan finishing up the last couple months of my tour so i will be on here quite a bit. !! as for what gear i have most of the stuff i have is eather for salmon or trout , i have a larger bait caster from TICA its the AK50 http://www.fishalaskamagazine.com/archives/2009/109_traveler.html nice reel and will look great on the wall once i leave AK. i put that on a couple of dif rods, but i have a 8 foot fiberglass ( cant remaber the brand right now but its a mid with a light tip.) and i just picked up an ABU ProMax cant wait to use it!. well hope to see you guys around and stay safe !

actualy i have not even been to the forum yet, i have just been reading all the Fishing articals loved the information i am finding and thoguth that is should sign up and introduse my self. there is a TON of good info on here but im haveing truble finding the serch button. i have some questions about V hull vs flat bottom Jon boats.
