Kevin22 Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Very slowly. Small twitches and hops, letting it sit more than you are moving it. Think of it almost like a shakey head. It's a cold water producer. Quote
38 Super Fan Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 By and large I also fish them pretty slow. However, keep an open mind and mix it up, I caught several yesterday just swimming a finesse jig with a rage craw trailer. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 4, 2013 Global Moderator Posted August 4, 2013 Hop-hop-hop-pause & repeat Ever seen a crawdad try to get away from a bass? This is almost exactly what it does. It will make a few quick flips of it's tail, hop-hop-hop, then parachute back to the bottom and take up a defensive stance, pause. If the bass continues to pursue they'll usually repeat the process until they make it to safety or the fish gives up. I've watched it hundreds of times when I worked at Cabela's and helped feed the fish in the aquariums and it goes the same way almost every time. There are certainly times when a slow drag retrieve will be better but quick hops are my favorite retrieve with them. 1 Quote

I have always dragged jigs, seems when I hop I loose contact with the jig (may be in my head) but every time I hop it seems I get bit on the way up and miss him. I can feel everything dragging to, but your description makes complete sense.....I am learning something new everyday. Quote
