for starters match your trailer to the color of your jig.. mainly craws..  if your fishing around some docks or cattails. at your ponds work slow I like throwing my jig into the base of the cattails in one of my ponds and I kill it there. You can throw the jig out in the middle  or parallel to the shore  and just hop it along either fast or slow... or you can just drag if the bite is slow.. but read all the articles on hear that with help you tons... also don't be afraid to throw in some scum or around brush/ lay downs.. you'll loose some baits it just part of jig fishing..

Dont always have to match trailer to jig.  Some days different colors work some days similar colors work.

Best way to learn is to get out there and do it!

Last time I went fishing all I did was throw a jig because I wanted to increase my confidence with it.

When I use a jig, I use a 3/8 oz. most of the time. Never used the pb&j jig, but Iv heard good things about the pb&j cored craws.

I also agree with the fact that you dont always have to match jig/trailer. Sometimes contrast works better than matching them.

yeah or you can use no trailer... if just starting out id say match when he starts catching bass  then id switch it up but the trailers/ colors are endless good luck
