Never thought about it.

I don't use too many different lures, I do go thru jig heads and jerk shads and bucktail jigs fishing saltwater.  I don't lose too many lures in freshwater.  I buy my fair share of braided lines, that's probably the biggest expense over the year.

Can't come up with a dollar amount, but it's managable.

i really couldnt say, but its not that much. i havent been in the market for any new reels or anything, feel i have all i need for the fishing i do. i might buy a few bags of soft plastics or a couple hard lures(i dont have to have the latest and greatest of everything), but i probably spend more on live bait for my night fishing then anything else the last couple years. i wont put a price on it, but its really not much in the big picture. i just cant see myself, atleast not right now, spending thousands a year on fishing like some of you...

In the past probably $3k to $5k a year. Lately maybe $500 to $1,000. My tackle room has more tackle than a mom and pop bait shop. When a new lure works for me I stock up on it for the fear of it being discontinued plus I give fishing tackle away to my family, friends and the little kids I meet fishing. I like to see everyone have success. Once they catch fish there hooked for life.

Don't do drugs, go fishing it's fun.

This year is going to be a new record considering it's only Feb. and I've already gone over $1000 in just new gear. I don't have a boat which is a huge gas savings but it is still in the thousands I'm sure. Fishing is my only sport now and I look at it as money well spent.

A little over 4800 in the last two years

Technically, I spend 0$ a year just cuz my parents for it. But in reality, I probably spend around 100$ a year. Most of that goes to rock bottom deals on rods and reels. I managed to get a Okuma C3-40X rod for 30$ off of amazon, when it retails for 160$ on TW. Also, RoadWarrior and Bruce424 sent me huge boxes of free baits and lures. Next year, I probably will aim for under 100$. Most of the gear I fish with is either discontinued or on clearance (Pluefger Supreme for 50$ and Okuma C3-40X for 30$).

Do you want the amount I actually spent, or the amount I told my wife I spent?   :Idontknow:

I hear it all the time: "Boy, I wish my wife liked to fish".

What they don't realize however; if my wife didn't fish my annual fishing expenditures would be Slashed In Half   :eyebrows:

I spend practically nothing -- compared to those guys who fish for marlin! I don't know why my wife can't understand this!

I spend probably more than I should, but I don't regret or feel guilty about a single cent.

The amount of money that I spend on fishing is insignificant compared to the pleasure that I derive from it. But since this is a question, I would estimate at a minimum of least 10 G's plus.

Per Year? Or Lifetime?

I probably spend about $200-$300 a year on lures and soft plastics. I also usually buy one new rod and reel around Christmas each year. That's not too bad, right?

Compared to some other guys on this forum, that isn't bad at all......

That would be per year. Let's see.... including $300-$350 in fees for every tourney, fuel for tow vehicle and boat, again maintenance for boat and motor and trailer, storage during the off season, boat insurance, a large variety of soft plastics and other baits and a few thousand yards of mono and braided line for a dozen reels or so.

I usually re-spool fresh mono for every tournament day and braid every year. But wait  there is still more to go.............

Terminal tackle, motels, bad food, the odd $300 or $400 rod and reel that goes overboard because it wasn't strapped down properly while under power. So as you can see how that can all add up very quickly.

So yup, 10 G's is a fairly close yearly estimate of how much I spend on fishing.

Spent a few thousand in 2014, but that number should go down dramatically in 2015.  Just got back into fishing so I was starting from scratch; all new rods, reels, fishing tackle, accessories, basically everything.

Could have gotten away for less but I tend to buy the better stuff so I don't need to replace it as often.

around $300 for tackle per year

If I'm getting a new combo then add another 300 or so.

Man, always sucks when you actually start adding it up!

If we're talking just tackle... I'd say $3,000 a year (baits, line, etc)

If we're talking how much TOTAL (Gas, Insurance, Tournaments, Hotels, etc) that all go into the cost of fishing... Hell , I don't even wanna know. Over $15,000 a year easy.

Yeah reality sometimes sucks. The money is the only downside, but you have to admit that it's worth every penny when you feel that little tap on the end of your line.

Make that every nickel, we did away with pennies in Canada a couple of years back.
