Well so far this year I have spent around $200. That includes getting the reels cleaned, new lures, a new tackle bag, and some 370 boxes.

I care not to disclose this info for fear of it being used against me at a later date!  :Idontknow:

$600 or more if I purchase a new rod or reel.

Most funds go to line purchases.

On the bright side of this...

I'm thinking about showing this thread to my wife. After seeing some of the numbers you guys throw up, I'll look like Rico Suave! Guess I'm not that bad after all!!! ;)

After buying 4 new rods and reels in 2014 I'm hoping that 2015 will be significantly cheaper.

Simple, not enough and that would be the same answer even if I spent my life savings on it

Don`t want to know for sure but the LC`s are driving the costs wayyyy up. Lost 3 of them this year already.

I had to secure a secondary income just to support my habit, I mean my obsession, I mean my hobby.

Yea, that's it, it's a hobby.

My wife and I both fish. She uses good gear also Stradic's and Sustains, and quality rods, as we both use quality gear. We usually buy 1-2 new kayaks a year which cost anywhere from $1000, to $4000 each. We fish 15 or so tournaments each a year with average entry fees being $50 a tournament per person and some tournaments upward of $250 each. We also have a full lineup of saltwater gear as well as freshwater, some serves double duty. Almost everything we buy we buy two of. We usually take 3-4 week long trips a year to the Gulf, Keys, Everglades, or just South Florida, and tournament trips are usually 2-3 days. If it's just me I can sleep in the truck, but most of the time it's both of us and I won't make her do that.

It is very expensive. I had never looked over my year's receipts until last month and last year we spent a lot of money without even realizing it, and that was only with one kayak bought last year. Right now we are looking at two new ones for this year, as we usually keep 2-3 kayaks a piece for different waters, and we've had as many as 7 at one time.

I wouldn't change a thing having my wife on almost every fishing trip that is taken. Married for almost 13years.

Fishing has become my main hobby, so a large portion of my "fun" money goes towards it. I would say with tournaments, boat and truck costs, gas and equipment, as well as food while on the road/water... close to $15000.00...

With a deal like that I could be broke afterwards and happy!

Dream: I spend a ton on fishing, but it pays for itself every year when I win the Forrest Wood Cup and Angler of the Year.

Plus, my sponsorships get me upwards of $70,000 dollars, so fishing essentially gives me my income.

Reality: HA.......I spend too much and don't get any of it back.

LOL....  that's why i've been stockpiling for the last few months.  i'm getting married in november so I've got to get it now....

Congratulations, just be clear, you're getting Married - not Buried. Keep in the back of your mind if the unfortunate day ever comes, the saying "Cheaper to keep her" has more truth than poetry. Then again, there's more to life than money. Sorry for getting side tracked there. lol

With the new year and lower gasoline ...

I plan to spend a few hundred more than last year...

Putting me at 700.00...

Unless I find a little bigger motor... lol

I dont wanna talk about it... I also tend to buy from discounted sponsors, so my total is a bit lower than it "should" be.

During the fishing season i can easily go through 30 to forty dollars in tackle a week(mostly soft plastics) not to mention stocking the cooler daily with drinks and lunch charging my marine batteries nightly makes the electric bill climb. I would guestimate that i spend between 1000 to 2000 yearly and i only fish april-nov

Typically between $500-$1000 every other year.  This is just tackle and gear.  You can double (maybe triple) that if you include everything else, like travel, gas, food, etc....

Do to the facts at hand I will choose to plead the 5th on this topic as it may incriminate me.....oh wait I don't have a wife anymore so A LOT.  I'm gonna say this last year probably up close to $5000 and that's only counting rods, reels, tackle.  Yeah, I'm a proud member of The Bait Monkey Club.
