Before Swimbaits: $500-$800 a year.

After- well, I have spent about $300 already and I got into swimbaits 2 months ago. ;)

I am adding an extra 300 per year for the maintenance of boat and motor ! The restoration for the Crawdad this year was 500 but was worth it :)

Earlier this summer I sorted out a soft tackle box so I could fit all my Canada baits in it.  This required relocating a huge gob of soft plastics of various shapes and colors that I rarely use.  (I mean to use them, I just never do).  This is not including the other soft tackle box I have stuffed to the proverbial gills with more recent purchases.  Now, more recently, I have almost gotten sucked into buying musky and big pike baits, too.  God help me!  It's probably been good that the weather has been too hot to fish much or my spending would probably go through the roof.

Actually, compared to what I'm reading on this thread, my purchases have been relatively modest.  Just wish I had more opportunities and locations to use what I already have.  I tell myself-when I retire.

Not much since I also play golf. I don't purchase many lures since I build some, and refurbish the ones I already have. I will buy hooks, earth worms, and frozen baits, but that's about it.

I'd have to say in 2013 I spent $250 or so.  It was the first year I got serious about fishing and did it alone because my daughter reached the age where she was more interested in hanging with her friends than Dad.

2014 was a different story: 3 kayaks and more casting & spinning setups than I really need (plus associated tackle to go along with it) emptied my checkbook by a good $3,500 or more.

So far 2015's only seen the cost of my sporting license.  If I stay busy with side-work, my money will hopefully be spent on traveling to new waters to fish. Won't make any predictions on that cost right now.

I bought five rods and reels in the last two months, so about $1400 on rods and reels, and probably $700 on baits over the last four or five months. I need to build up more websites and domains to support my obsession and pay my tuition, and this is my last semester in college, so I can't wait when Im done paying for my classes, then it all goes to fishing and other investments!!!!!!

Gas, airfare, Hotels, tackle, guides etc. Fishing 200+ days a year the gas and hotels is what kills you. $10,000+. Brian.

Too much but not enough. I think last year under $1,000 in all including gas for the boat.

This year though.. So far I'm at over $700 and the season isn't close to starting.

2014 was a crazy year for me. I got 8 New rods and reels.  NEver more than 1 a year before that.  Sooooo... That raised my average quite a bit...

I spend between "none of your business" and " I don't want my wife to find out".

For those of us traveling anglers with boats, it is astronomical when you factor in ALL related costs.  I could probably make a close guess, but I won't and don't want to know!

I completely agree. I do not want to know. It is all relative to income, but a big number in any case.

Roughly $500.00 dollars i'd say.

This included 2 rods 2 reels and tackle.

This year I expect it to be significantly less, maybe $200.00. That will be on line/terminal tackle/lures.

I should record this guess and see how much I actually spend.

Kinda funny to look back at my response a year and a half ago when this thread started. I have since bought a small boat and tow vehicle and gotten into some of the high end gear. My number has gotten a lot higher now lol.

Wow the level's here are all over the map. I am in the I don't want to know camp as I bought a certate and a steez in the same month and that was not the worst. Us enthuseists just don't add it up because the thought might scare us!

Sometimes I hide my purchases, because I get embarrassed by how much money I spend. I'm mostly a loner when it comes to fishing related stuff within my circle of friends and family. No one really understands my obssesion, so like an addict, I tried to hide it.
