I spent ruffly $400 last year on fishing equipment, most of what I spent went for poles , reels , lures and line ! (other than gasoline)  What was your biggest expense during last 12 months  ?

I have a collection of my receipts for all my fishing equipment. No way am I going to add them up now, perhaps later in life so I can be shocked. Far as per month, this July my wife and I spent over $1000 because we wanted more reels/rods/tackle for us.

I'm gonna guesstimate that I spend maybe a couple hundred bucks a year on lures, line, hooks, and such.  I just bought my first baitcasting combo this year.  Just got a cheap one to learn on so that was another $80 bucks.  Don't have a boat so the only other expense I really have is gas to and from the lake but since there are like 3 or 4 of them within 20 minutes, I really don't use too much gas.

Never thought about it, being responsible I never bought anything I couldn't afford.  In addition to tackle boat ownership is as much an expense as anything else, has to be counted.  When I was in Michigan my boat was at a marina on Lake St. Clair, insurance, maintenance, dry dock in the winter is all part of it, not being a bass boat it was used for other outings as well. Changing my residence to an inland lake, didn't use the primary boat for fishing, I prefered a rowboat with a small OB.

Moving to Florida 10 years ago I brought nothing with me for fishing, no way could I estimate what I've spent.  I have everything I need but not everything I want, so it never stops.

I spent roughly $4000 in the last 10 months on tackle and 5 new dobyns champion and dx series rods along with lews reels and a shimano core. Since I'm 16 and a non boater my money pretty much goes towards fishing gear strictly. My biggest expense was my dobyns dx 744 with a shimano core 101mg. This is an addiction but at least the money is going towards something good and not towards drugs and alcohol. :)

If you include boats and maintenance, rods, reels, baits, fuel, vacations, etc. I'm sure I've spent well over 100k during 40 years of fishing with the bulk being spent during the last 20. So I guess approx. 5k+ annually.

I forgot. Add a few boat pullers into the mix and we're talking another 75k. All for a stupid little fish

Starting from scratch is tough on the wallet.... but don't buy cheap, you'll end up buying it twice. :happy-138:

Don't know..don't care. If spending your money on something you love that makes you happy, then the amount doesn't matter to me.  All in all, it's a lot and I'd rather not know the number. Besides, my better half could hold leverage if she knew. ;)

I'm glad my money is spent on fishing and not in the bars or chasing tail anymore.  I'd kill to get the money back from my 20's of doing that stuff. I could have 3 times the amount of gear if not more!!!!!!

Last  12 months wasn't so bad maybe a thousand , last  3 years  around  $15,000

I fished both salt and fresh so   good surf gear can get expensive.

Like above if you figure out the trips it gets real expensive real quick.  I'd guess around 5k this year.   Most of that cost is in gas/oil for the truck and boat.  Boat maintenance is also another big one.

I would say $100 to $200 in lures/plastics and terminal tackle. Then another $100-$200 on rod/reels this year.

Since I save a vast percentage of the money I make my dad probably spends  close to 2 or 3 grand a year on me and him....

I spend around 300 with the money that I make that isn't saved for college...
