I bought some Gambler Ugly Otters the other day at BPS in junebug color. My pond is an 8 acre cypress pond. It is stained but still a little clear. How do I fish these? Where do I throw them and how do I work them? How do I rig them? Thanks.

Work em just as you would any other beaver or creature bait. Texas rig em and hop them along the bottom... should produce for ya!

Yea t-rigged works well with these. Fish them even if the side paddles tear off and they will. These are my go to creature bait. Good luck.

Bluegill, the next time you are in a tackle shop view what interests you and then do these seven things:

1. Do not make the purchase.

2. Contact us about the bait, line, rod, reel, etc. and ask for our input.

3. Go to YouTube and search for any videos on the bait, line, rod, reel, etc..

4. Go to an on-line tackle store and read what they have to say about the bait, line, rod, reel, etc. and the input from the people who have made the purchase and are using the equipment.

5. Make sure you have the correct rod/reel/line setup for the bait and waters you are fishing.

6. Know the water clarity and temperature where you will be using the baits.

7. Then go back to the tackle store and make your purchase.

In a few weeks you will be doing all of this in your head and selecting the correct types of baits for the waters you fish.

And it is always a challenge to make a purchase.

One more suggestion: Don't listen to the pros. They are hawking their products. Subscribe to Bass Times and read what each pro is throwing in their tournaments. This publication has the pros give up some of their baits and techniques after the tournaments.
