I don't know what a Shock rod is, but I've used the original 14# fused Fireline and 15# braid (on my spinning reels) and both performed well. My only complaint about the fused line was that it didn't flow off the spool on the cast as smoothly as I would've liked, but otherwise was good.

I don't know what a shock rod is either. I use 8lb Fireline on all my spinning reels and have done so for years. I buy it in 1500 yard spools.

I believe he's talking about the Berkley Lightning Rod!
