aquaholic Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 After a recent trip I was having some issues seeing my braid in the water. im currently running green power pro. If I made the switch to the high vis yellow with a fluro leader do you think I would have any issues spooking fish? Itd pretty much be used strictly for fishing soft plastics with a slack line. Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I haven't fished with high vis yellow, but from what I've heard and seen from some videos on youtube it doesn't spook the fish. If you do decide to try it, its going to be just like trying a bait you don't have confidence in, but once you start getting solid fish you gain confidence in the bait (line) and it will be no different than before, now your just using a different bait (line). jimmykm21 Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I fished with high vis yellow since it first came out surfishing , I never saw the need for fresh water but if you think you need it , go for it Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 29, 2013 Global Moderator Posted July 29, 2013 I fish Nanofil (bright white) with a fluoro leader in clear water for smallmouth and have no problem getting them to bite. Quote
Loop_Dad Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I use high vis yellow mostly straight, except when the water is really clear (then I add a fluoro leader). I run black sharpy for the length of the rod. After a couple of times on the water, the black fade a bit and becomes bit grayish greenish. I seems to be doing okay. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted July 29, 2013 Super User Posted July 29, 2013 I have two reels, one baitcasting and one spinning, filled with 30# test PP. I use a 6' 17# test fluoro leader, connected with an Alberto knot. No problems, no worries. Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted July 29, 2013 Super User Posted July 29, 2013 I'm slowly phasing out all my green braid for the brighter colors, both fresh and salt combos. The last 6ft or so of the braid get colored with a black Sharpie, and I normally use a leader unless extremely heavy cover. I'm not sure it truly makes a difference but it makes me feel better Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 29, 2013 Super User Posted July 29, 2013 Did you use leaders before? Why start if not, just color the last few feet of line with a permanent marker. If you already use a leader, and that works, then carry on. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted July 29, 2013 Super User Posted July 29, 2013 I have tried all various colors of PowerPro. Didn't notice a real difference. I stick with green though for my own personal preferece. Quote
Kevin22 Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I have caught many many bass both largemouth and smallmouth with yellow power pro tied directly to a jig head and grub fishing for walleye. I would not hesitate to use it for a visual approach to bass fishing, such as weightless senkos or light t-rigs. Quote
Kevin22 Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Oh and for those who use a sharpie... pick up a BROWN sharpie at walmart and use that. Brown camos in the water, nothing in the water is black. Black line stands out in the water which is why most braid companies do not make a black anymore. Brown sharpies only come in singles and are around a buck a piece right now for the back to school shopping. Quote
