How many people do this? I ask because i noticed i have been getting short bites on my DTs and im wondering if i could be catching these fish if i had some better trebles. One of my buddies recommended the owner stinger trebles.

I've put Owner Stingers on about 1/3 of my lures. I plan on replacing the hooks on everything eventually.

Rapala mostly uses VMC trebles, which I consider decent but not the "sharpest tools in the shed".  I sharpen them with a diamond hone but eventually replace them with a high quality Japanese hook like the Gamakatsu Round Bend.  However, treble sharpness is not the only reason fish don't hook up on a crankbait.  Often, they just aren't buying the size, color, or action of a particular bait and you need to experiment to find what will generate a little more enthusiasm.

Very few companies put quality hooks on their baits. You should always change out hooks that are not of good quality. That could be your new personal best lost due to a dull, lousy hook.
