Looking For A Flippin Reel

I'm trying to get peoples thoughts on these 3 reels.  I would be using one of them for my flipping and pitching set up but I just dont know which one.  

 

Lew's Team Pro Speed Spool

Abu Garcia Revo Premier 

Quantum EXO PT 

 

My brother has a Lews Tournament Speed Spool and says its pretty much the same thing as a Team Pro but for $150 less.  He tells me I'm dumb for wanting to buy a $300 reel because of diminishing returns.  I figured I'd get other peoples thoughts on this...

A Gen2 Revo Premier would be my choice of those listed.

I think the Lews Team Pro only has 10 pounds of drag, might not be a great flippin reel. I have a regular Team Lews, it's a great reel, stronger drag and about $50 cheaper than a Team Pro too. Personally, for a flippin reel I'd go with a Super Duty, which is even cheaper. Couldn't tell you much about that particular Abu or Quantum.

F&P is all about comfort. Your reel is not extremely important, all you are using it for is making short pitches and reeling fish in. You need to go to a shop or two and find all three of those reels, put them on a rod in the store and see how they feel in your hand. Get the most comfortable one for your grip. You will want comfort over performance for F&P, all three of those reels will perform perfectly.

I mostly use a spinning rig for flipping and pitching.

 

I do use a baitcaster at times depending on the structure, weeds, pads, grass, etc.

 

More control, easier entry and no backlashes with a baitcaster and I have caught some beautiful bass on a spinning setup.

 

My thought on your question is for you to get the reel you have the most confidence and don't be concerned with either the price or what anyone else says.

I feel that drag strength is alittle overrated. I've flipped with a zillion that only has 8lbs of drag and haven't had a fish peel off any line. Figure a heavy rod and heavy line make it much hard for a fish to peel line.

That being said, make sure your rod balances well. You listed three lightweight reels and though that may seem good, if your combo is very unbalanced and tip heavy, it will actually be more of a drain on you.

Agree with RW, Pinnacle makes great reels. I have a Pinnacle Optimus LTE HS reel that I use for pitchin and it has been a great reel with plenty of drag.

 Another vote for a Lews Superduty.

I love to pitch with a Revo MGX, the lightness of the reel makes a long day less tiring and it still has the power to drag fish out. A better dual purpose reel for flipping and pitching might be a zillion or gen 2 premier. I use the premier a lot and the drag is nice for real heavy cover. A good idea is to put Boca orange seal bearings in whatever you get. They make pitching and flipping so much easier.

For actual flipping, you don't need much, just a strong drag and a strong frame.  Some sort of flipping switch is a real convenience.  I have no idea why you'd need a fast reel, since you only have about 10' of line out.

You might try getting your hands on an older reel dedicated for flipping.

Well I got it down to Lew's or Abu.  I'll take my flipping stick up to my local tackle store and see which one feels better.

Also is there that much of a difference between Lew's Tournament Pro and Lews Team Pro or Abu's Revo Premier and Abu's Revo STX?  Theres like a $100 difference between them?  I was just wondering are they really $100 dollors more better?  I'm new to the baitcaster scene.
