mattk22 Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Looking to sell my 04 Stratos 185 and upgrade to newer bigger boat. Any opinions on brands and why you like those brands? Quote
CxThree Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Stratos 201? Seriously, I just bought a 1997 Stratos 285 Pro Elite and am in love with it. I also rode on a 201 and can see that as a future boat for me. What about one of the newer 285s? Quote
Super User senile1 Posted July 29, 2013 Super User Posted July 29, 2013 I have a 2000 Stratos 295 Pro Elite which is 19' 6". It is a good boat but I will definitely buy something with wider front deck space in the future. Stratos boats tend to angle toward the nose too far aft of the bow for me where some other boat manufacturers make the front deck wider. The 294 XL Evolution is the replacement for my boat if I were to want a Stratos, but the deck still appears to angle in too quickly even on the newer models. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted July 30, 2013 Super User Posted July 30, 2013 mattk, everyone thinks their boat is the best. Just the same as Ford vs Chevy or Pepsi vs Coke. Ranger is the #1 selling bass boat and has the best resale value for a reason. As far as Skeeter is concerned, the hull is built around the Yammie. If you were to purchase one of them, make sure you have an authorized Yammie shop nearby to work on it. If I were buying a bass boat today, I would look at Charger, Ranger, and Phoenix in that order. martintheduck Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 One day, in maybe 15 years, I will be fishing from a Ranger or a Phoenix Quote
Super User senile1 Posted August 2, 2013 Super User Posted August 2, 2013 mattk, everyone thinks their boat is the best. Not everyone. My post indicates that I don't think mine is the best. Quote
Kevin22 Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 I saw a stratos 273 a couple weeks ago, it is 18.5. I was amazed at how little space there was in that boat. My 17' ranger has more fishing space. The stratos looked like an arrow head, super skinny in the front and a very small area to stand. If the boat you are looking at is the same (or close to) dimensions as the 273 I would pass for sure. tate Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I'm more than happy with my Triton 19SE, quality boat. I think an important part of deciding which boat is the proximity and quality of the dealer .... general maintenance is one thing but with a boat specific problem post sale support is important. Super User Catt Posted August 5, 2013 Super User Posted August 5, 2013 Champion: best rough water ride Skeeter & BassCat: best all round Ranger: great boat- over priced Triton: wet ride- chine walks Legend: small company-limited dealers Nitro: good enough KVD Stratos: I got one, small boat handles big, Larry Nixon refuses to fish any thing else Quote
