TR186FLA Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Hello everyone, got a question... I ordered a couple MattLures.com bluegill swim baits last week and cannot wait to get them, the fish in my lake primary forage is bluegill, so I am thinking this would be a great bait to throw, any tips on tackle, ( rod, line size ) appreciated and presentation tips... can't wait to get them, hope they get here for this weekend the weather is suppose to be great... Thanks again, Brian..... Quote
Randall Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I throw mine on a 7ft heavy action rod with 40lb braid. Just cast and swim it back or fish it like a jig bouncing it along the bottom. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted March 27, 2007 Super User Posted March 27, 2007 Ideally... a 7'6"-7'11" MH SWIMBAIT rod. (okuma, crucial...etc) 300series round baitcaster (cradiff, calcutta, luna) 20lb big game, Pline CXX, ultragreen But any heavy flipping stick will work ok if you have to. Quote
BucketmouthAngler13 Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I use mine with a Okuma Guide Select 7'11" Heavy BC rod (rated for 1-6oz) and I use 30lb power pro. If your looking to buy a rod get the one I mentioned from ***.com. They have free shipping on all orders over 50 bucks, so I get my expensive stuff from there. Quote
