I hace been looking at the collapsable rod type of lure retiever's, I see Timmy Horton has one but it is $90.00, Cabela's has one but the reviews are mixed on it.  Bass Pro and Gander Mountain both have one that are around $40.00.  So my question is do any of you ever use one and which one do you like?  Thank you for your time .

Tiptons Golden Lure Retriever is the best one I have ever used!

I cut down a broken rod.  I attached and old baitcaster to the reel seat.  I then went to BPS and purchased their plug knocker that is super cheap.  I threaded the string on the reel and WALLAH!  a cheap plug knocker.  Or you can purchase an expensive one.  The one I made paid for itself the first bait I retrieved.

I use a 30' retractable dog leash for mine. I think the retriever came from BPS. It's the kind with the chains.

I tried this, but my lure retriever must have been to heavy, cause it would not self retract!

A guy I fish with had one that wouldn't retract either but mine comes back super fast. I guess it depends on the brand.

I made my own out of a cheap telescoping pole used by painters and a spring that fit snugly on the end.  I used a couple of cable ties to attach a linoleum knife near the end as well, so I can wrap the line/lure a couple of times in the spring and use the blade to easily cut the line without playing tug-of-war.  I keep my own losses to a minimum and routinely pull some pretty expensive lures out of the local trees, whether they're dangling from 6# mono or 50# braid.

I used the one on a rope off the low bridge I fish from. It's saved me many times. I did find out there was a 2x10 board that was used as structure there right in front of were we fish. It must of had 50 grubs stuck in it. I figured the crayfish must hide undr r it that's why the fishing was so good there.

But even the lure knocker has saved me from losing my crankbaits many times.

Here's my story about losing a lure. I lost a crankbait and about 6 months later I hooked it and brought it up while using the exact same lure. The water is ten feet deep so I couldn't see it. But being a creature of habit I stand in the exact same spot from shore and fan cast the whole place. I just find it funny.

My dad found one on the side of the road. .the rod style.. and it has probably saved 250-350 dollars in lures.. WELL WORTH IT... well considering we didnt pay for it

You can make one easy just looking at Youtube. /watch?v=SI9aMpZX22w

But i find a telescopic lure retriever that extend to 18feet is the best.   You can chase it down far and knock it back out.  /watch?v=17LFY1JcyaQ
