I don't even know how he managed to get half of the lizard and the 4/0 ewg hook into his mouth. Nevertheless it put up a good fight haha.

I'm sure I'm not the only one whose mother cautioned never to bite off more than I can chew. The fish haven't received the message.

Fish id?  Pumpkinseed?  If so, I had a huge one take a shakey head trick worm that shocked me.  Should have taken a pic of it.  I think the pumpkinseeds are more prone to eat bigger baits.

Well whatever it is, it's in the sunfish family and that's a pretty nice size one.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it is a hybrid between and bluegill and a red ear sunfish.

Thanks. The lake I caught it in holds some big sunfish for sure. This one was about average sized compared to the red ear sunfishes that I usually catch there. I caught my pb red ear there which was around 17", unfortunately I didn't bring a scale that day.

definitely a nice sized sunny. better than what we've got locally!
