Muzzy8124 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I was just wondering if anybody had any tips on how to fish marabou jigs for crappie. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted July 26, 2013 Super User Posted July 26, 2013 Wow....cannot believe you've received no responses! I missed this posting earlier, or I would have given you something. I hope this helps. Marabou jigs are great during the cooler water periods of early fall through late spring. I'm fond of rigging two 1/32 oz. jigs about a foot apart from one another and suspending them under a slip bobber. Sometimes I'll even just cast the double rig and slow retrieve it along the bottom. Works great on yellow perch as well. 1 Quote
pbizzle Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 I like putting them under a jig spinner. I use a 1/8 model and burn it just like you would for bass. Works pretty well. Quote
basshole8190 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Marabou isn't my first choice i personally like hal flies or jiffy jigs much better. Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted January 2, 2014 Super User Posted January 2, 2014 I like fishing a marabou jib under a light bobber-especially on breezy days when there's a little chop. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 4, 2014 Super User Posted January 4, 2014 This was actually made up for snook in the surf but I use them for bass, peacocks and about anything else in freshwater, after reading this post I took it out yesterday. 1 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 5, 2014 Super User Posted January 5, 2014 Was inspired to make a few up yesterday, small one is real similar to a crappie jig, don't recall the weight of the jig heads I had on hand. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted January 7, 2014 Super User Posted January 7, 2014 how do you rig two First off I don't "tie" the jigs on the line. Instead I tie on two size #2 Snap Hooks (from Netcraft) and snap my jigs onto those. I use a palomar knot on the upper jig with a long tag end sticking down through the eye, similar to what you do when drop shotting. Then I just use a palomar on the lower one, about a foot apart from the first. Of coure, the bobber set-up must be in place ahead, on the main line. Quote
