We shop at a Super Target for our groceries and other essentials (baby stuff/medicines etc..) I use a Target red card which is a %5 savings each time used.  I still am cranking out $700 to $1000 for groceries each month.  Occasionally I will go get fresh produce and meats from a local family owned market called Caputos which has pretty good deals but there dry food/boxed items are outrageous.  Being that I live in a small condo, growing my own food is out of the question just on space alone. Besides that, my patio doesn't get direct sunlight except for early AM for 1-2 hours tops.

I can't imagine what it is going to be like when I have 2 growing teenage boys eating and possibly 1 or more younger kids at the same time.  These financial responsibilities are what scare me as a parent.  TV/internet can always be cut out along with other non-necessity spending. But food can't....and I just find it ridiculous how much it costs compared to when I was growing up.  I splurge at Costco or Sams every great once in a while but I might need to shop their more as my boys grow older.

What are you spending on groceries a month? Where do you shop?

When me and the wife were together I think it was around 500 for the two boys and our selves. Now I live with my mom till back on my feet and I toss her 200 a month for food and bills for staying there.

$150 every two weeks is about the norm. Me, Lisa and the boy are it, hes two at the moment.

Some weeks are more expensive, some less. Our meat market is excellent and when possible I like to put at least one if not two whitetails in my freezer a year. Its a shame I dont eat fish.

$1000... WOW

Meat = all local butcher or killed by me

Normal Groceries = Weis Market(probably dont have that where you are), Giant(another grocery store), Walmart(rarely)

Around 250 a month for my wife son and myself. That's not factoring in toiletries and cleaning stuff. Add another 30 for toiletries and cleaning supplies.

Wow. Are you on the runway model diets? Saltines and cigarettes? lol j/k   But man $250 would be fantastic.

Jhoffman...I live in the suburbs of Chicago which is not exactly cheap to live here but yea expenses are crazy.  Gas prices here are $4.09 for regular right now. $4.54 for super.... It's crazy.

My inlaws buy a lot of our groceries for us. They do the same for my sister in laws. That's on the hush hush though.

I don't keep track, but I also don't buy a lot of brand name foods and go for the house brands since many are produced in the same factories as other products

Never really thought about it.  We usually go to the grocery store once a week, as Martha loves to cook.  It's either Nob Hill or Whole Foods which are upscale grocery stores that sell fresh 'organic' type stuff.

From what I remember we probably average $250 a week or so.

This of course does not include wine and spirits. :D

For a family of six(one is a new born) we spend 100 per week but we eat 2-3 meals out and sunday night with my folks. If you would count that, I would say 150-200 a week. And that is not just food, that includes cleaning stuff, storage bags etc. a normal trip to the grocery store. Buying sale items and and store brand help.

Yep, we always buy store brand and use coupons and sale items. But from you guys saying you're around $200 a week that puts us in the same ball park I guess.

2 seniors, we eat small meals, $500. mo., includes cleaning & paper items. She eats lots of fruit and veggies, we both eat a healthy diet, no junk food in the house. Being a diabetic I'm very cautious what I eat. We out 2 nights a week on average

$500 plus a month here.  I have a 14 year old boy that has 2 hollow legs.  Thank goodness he's here only half the time.  I could see it going up 200 to 250 a month.

Just the wife and I. We eat out more than we should. Groceries run us about $100 a week. But with 2 large breed dogs that both eat the 30lb bag of food every 3 weeks. Their food is another $125 a month.

Sufficient high quality sustenance is a priority for us and we're quite willing to make the $$$ commitment required.

I will also say that when I cross over the bridge, I would like to come back as one of my dogs -

They eat like Royalty.

Well be glad you don't have to put diapers on those guys.  Average set of twins will go through 6-7,000 diapers before they're potty trained.  I have about 2 years to go........smh.

Eeeesh. No contest, but our last pup that passed away in April had to be on a crazy kidney diet for the last 8 months of her life that cost us $350 a month for just her food. Small price to pay....

If it is a main course for you then yes. I don't drink very much anymore. But I do enjoy a nice scotch on the rocks.

I'd say a good $150-$160 a week on average.  That includes the quick stops for milk or bread or anything else we need between main grocery trips too.

I'm a cheap azz when it comes to groceries.  Off brand dry goods and I shop at wally world for everything except meat. I eat a lot of chicken and pork and get the bulk packages. I buy steak when it's on sale and buy a lot to throw in the freezer. I don't *** you with the kids things. They were expensive 20 years ago when my son was a baby. I can't imagine how much it costs now.
