Smiths.R Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I was in upstate NY (Loon Lake), and was fishing some HEAVY pads. I didn't even know pads would get this thick...anyway, a big fish crushed my frog, and ripped a hole in it by the eye. I was just wondering if using some super glue is a good thing to do. Any thoughts? p.s That frog is out of this world. I'm buying two more tonight. Quote
JKarbo214 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I really wouldn't bother with super glue. I'd simply buy a new frog. Was it a pike that ripped the frog or an aggressive bass? Quote
Smiths.R Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 Big bass. Hardest strike I've ever had. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 12, 2010 Super User Posted July 12, 2010 Snag Proof are notorious for tearing right at the line tie. A little dab of silicone usually makes it serviceable again. Quote
gobig Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Don't know if it will work but I would try mendit. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted July 13, 2010 Super User Posted July 13, 2010 I hope my Spro frog gets crushed pretty soon... ;D Quote
Bass Junkie Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 You could also try some melted worm plastic... Just be careful... That stuff burns : (You'd think one would learn the first time :-/) Quote
Senkoman12 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Big bass. Hardest strike I've ever had. sounds like a pike they are every where up there Quote
Smiths.R Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 I would agree, except that I saw him jump. Also, we caught about 20 of them in a few hours, and zero pike. @Franco: Yeah, it's ripped right at the tie on spot. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 15, 2010 Super User Posted July 15, 2010 Big bass. Hardest strike I've ever had. sounds like a pike they are every where up there Pike aren't generally hanging in shallow flats with pads, unless there is deep, cold water very close nearby. This time of year, they are deep, on outside weed ledges, and biting off bass anglers' jigs. Quote

Joe D Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Not to side track the thread, but I started this year with 8 SPro frogs and not a single one of them is still floating. I will say that we had had a lot of action on them so I don't mind to much, but one frog was brand new out of the package I caught one four pounder on it and now it is worthless. I tried sealing the bottom hole with silicone and drilling a new on between the eyes, but it didn't really help. If anyone has any thoughts I would appreciate it. My main problem is that I can't get through one cast without the frog sinking. And ten bucks for one fish is a little steep for me. Any thatnks for the help. Joe Quote

I made the switch and could not be happier. It is overall a better product then the spro frogs. River2sea Wully Ba frog Quote
